Miracle for fuel economy?

This would be equal to $1.86 - $2.16 / gallon of premium gasoline (asuming 25-45% increase in economy). I like the sound of that.

Got closed down

Ok my thread got closed sorry Kool, didn't remember this thread here is what the basics were from mine.

Well I tried Acetone in my last tank of gas and it seems to be working great. I am normally about 120 miles to half tank, I drive fast everywhere, and this tank I am at 185 with no change in climate or driving habits. Not to mention my oil needed to be changed. I picked some up at Walmart for like 12 bucks a gallon and added about 4.3 oz to my tank when I filled up. Car drives smoother and seems to run a little cooler too. My idle is smoother as well. I am happy with the results and will keep doing it. If I could suggest a method to put it in I would get an empty fuel additive container and fill it with that. Do not use plastic it will eat it up in pure form. The article I read on the forum said between 25% & 45% better mileage dep. on driving habits.

Aren't the fuel additive containers plastic?
That was my first reaction. But the plastic the acetone comes in does okay, wonder if it's the same type?

Is nail polish remover pure acetone, or does it just have a certain percentage of acetone? That would be a handy sized bottle to have in the car with me.

I'm wondering if you go back to straight gas if you will still get the same mileage. To basically test if it either works as a sort of cleanser that only needs to be run every so often, or if it must be part of the combustion process to give improvements. If that makes sense.

That's my next test! :)

I've got basically the same results as you. Did you notice better acceleration up the power band? (over 4000 RPM). The engine sure runs smooth!

this is sooo crazy!!! ....this better not be an early/late april fools joke, cuz if i try it and my engine goes, i'm gonna laugh my ass off!!

where can i find pure acetone?

Auto parts stores usually have acetone in 32 ounce cans in the paint section. We'll see how it works on a modified N/A setup. =) So far, no issues, in the .5 miles, on Cali 91. Hehe.

well, I'm gonna try this next time I fill up my tank which should be thursday.

i'm gonna try it today or tomorrow....to let everyone know i drive a 95 pro, 1.5L 5spd and i normally get average 30mpg (high is 33.#) so i'll reply when my test is done.

how the **** you get 38mpg?? what, do you drive at like 50mph and shift before 2500rpm?? I shift at or before 3k rpm and drive at 65-70mph on the highway and I get like 28mpg.

I could see getting that if you never ran your car hard at all. And drove the freeway alot at 55 mph. I got 29/gal running super rich last week. so i only expect it to get better once i tune, then maybe i'll try this.

No, I shift around 4.5k, normally, and 6.5 when I'm pushing it. I drive the hell out of my car, and sit at around 75ish on the highway.

Keep in mind, the car is pretty well worked over.

I have gotten as high as 37MPG shifting at 3k and skipping gears. I barely accellerate and go no faster than 60MPH. It sucks and I wouldn't be doing it if gas wasn't high and I did not drive over 100miles to work and back.
I miss hammering my car for first three gears and driving 80.

thats ok. we already got an answer. that dude, blitzd step dad is some sort of engineer. he says he's done tests and everything is ok. but it would be good to have another person confirm it

On my last tank in my motorcycle, I averaged 39mpg. I just added an oz or so to the ~4 gallon tank. We'll see what happens.
