Miles per Gallon MPG Inquiry

We can agree to disagree then, Your URL is from a manufacture so its always going to lean in there favor. My GTO came with Denso as the OEM plug.
I was able to add two degrees more timing with a copper plug. Volvo also uses Denso but it's copper because they have a turbo. Part number Q20PR-U

I'm not a big small motor guy but I've built a few 500HP cars in my time. Switching to Copper typically NGK V-Power provide a much more constant spark and less misfires as cylinder pressures start to climb.

Here is a great Spark plug thread on NAM. It will take a while to read though it all

I can tell you at this point if was to but a platinum plug back in my Blown, 14PSI, methanol injected, head and cam LS1 those plugs would be toast quickly.

Now back to the gas mileage thread. I'm like Racebrewer averaging 28MPG per tank.

so what your saying. (and this is the big question) plugs are more of a placebo affect?

my average (AT) is around 31mpg but i get around 35 if i drive under 70 lol

Well I don't think it is a "placebo affect", I think there are differences in plugs. I am an engineer, professional metal fabricator/welder, motorcycle/car mechanic (I own 3 racing motorcycles), etc. etc. and I study and read a lot about engines, etc. because I love this stuff. Like I said in a previous tread above I am going on a trip next week and I will post my results when I get back.

Again though, with my E3s installed in my 2011 Mazda 2 it appears to have a very nice throttle response, but a dyno test would be more realistic for sure.

lol thats why i was asking. looking forward to the test =]

I did a controlled as possible test the week prior to putting my snow tyres on...Washed car, turtle waxed it, mobile high test, took off car antenna ( i have shorty, antenna that is ), mobile 1 extended oil....257.7 miles filled up to first stop at the onset and filled up to first stop at end and used same pump both times, drove 50 to 55 mph and only came to a complete stop 6 times.........I used 4.2 gallons for 61.2 mpg.......It wasnt fun at all driving like that on the Mass Pike....I usually let the 2 have its head and settle in between 3000 and 3500 rpm although I wont do that with snow tyres on her.

In the old days we did plug chops on our bikes to get a good spark plug color and changed around the main jet sizes and slide positions on the amals until we got it correct....running open & reverse cone megs was a lot of fun at age 18/19....
