Might get a Mazda 6!!!

My 6s MTX is getting great gas mileage. On the highway at 120-130 km/h in 5th gear, I got 600 kilometers on a tank and the fuel light did not even come on yet when I went to fill up. Even when I drive it hard, the gas mileage is not nearly as bad as the RX-8 driving it conservatively.

???? 18.9 highway.
Why are you getting that low on the highway? Are you any extremly aggressive driver? Is everyone with a 6s getting this type of gas mileage.

I'm going to the dealer on Aug 27 w/ my pops to pick the car.
I'm going to go ahead and get the MT.
Now the option that's up in the air is a 6s or 6i.

Actually..I get better gas milage speeding! Trying to keep up with the V6mtx'ers on the highway mysteriously bumps me up to a 23 mpg. Since I have the 03 I never use D cause 1st and 2nd gear issue still exist. Either way in D the car downshifts like crazy where in M mode you shift later than D would normaly. There is no 100% way to extend your mpg uless you actualy go for a "true mtx"

6iatx mpg=6satx mpg
6imtx can nearly cetch up to a 6s atx
6smtx bare can almost hang with RX-8
6iatx can pull on a honda insight, toyota prius, and scion xA/xB...

An insight, a Scion xA,Xb, and a Prius? that is terrible.....
Thats the list of *Guarenteed Wins*

It just seems odd that your 6i ? gets 18.9 highway when the EPA is 23/28 for an AT. I guess it would make sense if you travel during rush hour though. Then your highway 18.9 is basically like city driving.

What kind of gas do you use?
18.9 aquired under all conditions listed:

*NOVA Highway no traffic
*Redline/Mobil 1 syn blend
*Cheveron 87 Same Pump & Milage Noted
*Sta-Bil additives(Started treatments for storage purposes.)
*Full tank
*Shifting at or under 4000

The stipulations on the 26 was

*Daytime
*light to moderate traffic
*shifting somewhere near 6800
*Never reached 4th gear...ever

i would say GO AND GET IT!!. you will not be disappointed one bit. i have loved mine since the first day i even sat in the drivers seat! and still everyday i get into it and just plain enjoy the fact that i get to drive it. looks like your option package is filled with all the goodies too, only thing i would suggest against is the bose, since its not worth all the extra cash. since the sound quality is not much better than the stock setup imo. and my suggestion would be to go with the mtx, simply because the power loss with the atx is just plain horrible! but otherwise....think you are headed the right direction....good luck!

Ok guys I've decided to get the manual Mazda 6s.
The MSRP is $26,400.

You guys said I could get a much better price. Any advice on what to do when in the dealership. Remember I'm not trading in my 2nd gen.

Is there a price I should be shooting for? It is the mazda sales event and they claimed could get $3000 cash back.

I already went to one dealer in MD to ask about the price. He was a prick and gave me the run around, probably cause I was young and told him I needed to go to NJ to get the car. Are a lot of car salesmen annoying.

Yeah they are pretty much Shark-like....Never tell them how much you have on you until you get a firm price on the vehicle...you gotta come on the Lot with a look of seriousness, like you wanna do business...

Go online thru the MazdaUSA website, find the car you want and then email the internet manager for a quote. I did that w/ Rosenthal Arlington and they knocked $3K off the price before I walked in the door. Also, you should be able to get another $500 off if you bring in your college diploma. I had no trade in either.

I found these 4 local ones on the MazdaUSA site. You just need to click the Price Quote links here if they interest you and then email them, don't call or else you probably won't get the internet manager.

Would you be willing to look at the 5 door? Looks almost identical to the sedan, but you get a rear wiper, slightly more usable storage space and I just did a search and it might actually be cheaper than the sedan. Not to mention give you a bit of leverage for negotiating. I just did a search and there are 6 manual GLACIER SILVER METALLIC 5 door 6s in the local area.

5 doors freakin' rock.. get one!

Wait...rebates and incentives incoming...the 06's are about to come out...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait.

Would suck if you bought the car, then a week later 2000 in rebates came out.

Yeah I was trying to get a 6s 5 door and if I can't do that then I'll go for the sedan.

Katya I've been looking at those online searches every now and then it's very handy.

So in september there will be more sales then there is now. Cause right now until sept 6 is mazdas blow out sale or whatever it's called. Up to $3k cash back blah blah blah.

I'd probably get the car in NJ. That's where my dad is. It'll also probably be better to go in there with someone older than myself also.

What would be a good price to shoot for? $22k? lower higher?

It looks like a 5 door would be cheaper and easier to find, so I would focus on that and not the sedan. I got my car in early September, maybe see if you could find someone *Captain KRMP5?* who works at a dealership and might be able to find out about upcoming deals after the current one ends?

Don't go in to talk to a regular salesman, get an online quote from the internet sales manager, they are usually paid based on volume sold, not individual commission and therefor you will usually get a better deal and less stress and hassle.

I went in w/ my mom, but I had already negotiated most of the price before I got there, the only other discount I got was them waiving the processing fee. If you have a quote in hand that is low before you go in, it makes things much easier on you. Make sure you have your copy of your diploma w/ you.
