Can you believe this s***?!

I can't believe we gotta teach people how to ******* be smart and save money, instead we have to put up a michigan.gov website that says "SAVE MONEY" learn how!! How about, be ******* smart about your money and stop buying all the bulls*** useless cars our Big 3 makes!

And Granholm needs to get a ******* clue. Lower the speed limit, HAH! I seriously feel like I am being plunged into an era I wasn't born in. What reason is there to even stay in this s*** hole? How about enforce the Drive Right Pass Left law faggots, instead of clogging up traffic EVEN MORE! You can't get anywhere in this ******* metro area without stupid ******* drivers and congestion. **** this.

I really doubt this will make it, besides... as you said, I couldn't imagine trying to get across the city going 55 as the max. I'd kill myself on 696 doing that...

Im not kidding when I say this: if they continue to mention this in the news, im writing to granholm and starting a petition.

Man I was angry when I posted that last night lol!

That was pretty stupid, I feel its to be expected from a stupid b**** like her though.

People on the freeways are already driving at 60-65mph with these high gas prices. Thats why they do have a minimum speed limit in place, you dont have to travel 70mph. Hell most people drive around 80mph anyway so its a personal choice but you cant drive your SUV at 85mph and complain about gas mileage.

The real problem is the people that decide they want to get great gas mileage then drive out in the left lane and back up traffic for miles, they should really start enforcing "stay right pass left" so the people that want to go fast can and the people that want to go slow dont hold everyone up.

What they completely fail to realize is that there are cars and even more trucks that are geared so high that they actually get better mileage at 70 than they do at 55 because they don't have to downshift to climb hills or accelerate. My friend's 89 Cutlass was geared so high that at 60mph, it was constantly downshifting to climb small hills, while at 75, it remained in 4th with the torque converter locked.

Dumb idea for so many reasons.

^ I agree (with CWP)

I pass on the right all the time, cause there are so many slow idiots (often on their cell phones) clogging up the left lanes. And right now I'm usually only doing the speed limit, even less.

Instead of lowering the speed limit, how about we just jack up the gas tax some more!

Yes, I agree that is one of the stupidest things I've heard in a long time. Good thing she's out soon. I don't see that benefiting anyone, but rather lining the police funds with more money out of the taxpayers pockets.

I'm with Matt on this, we need to enforce the 'pass left, stay right' philosophy. If people want to drive 90 and whip past everyone in the fast lane, let 'em. It's not your gas their wasting, so why worry.

Another suggestion is the improvement of city traffic light coordination. I think there's more to gain there than in reducing the speed limit on the highway. If you could set up traffic signals to be more efficient and allow drivers to cruise for longer periods at 45 or 55, where most cars can sip on gas.

How true, in MN, at least in Duluth, the lights are all timed on the main routes. You hit one red and that is all you will hit if you go 30-35.

In the rest of the state, the lights are mostly padded. At least then, if there is no one in the turn lane, it won't cycle through that.

Roads around here used to be timed for speed too, you could go down telegraph all day and make every light doing between 45-50mph but now with all this horse s*** electronic sensors and changing timing for different parts of the day it only backs things up more. One thing technology didn't help is traffic flow... Constant stop and go city driving totally kills my gas mileage, I drive 16miles a day and average between 20-22mpg in my car.

The simulation technology now can basically mimic any situation and produce a result that would minimize slowdowns...why haven't we adopted it?!? MIT has a solution, but noone has bothered to adopt it. It just kills me...

We need change in MI, that's something we all need to come together on. We need to put together some letters to send to Lansing. This can't continue like this.

It's true though man, how can people keep running our state like this and all we do is sit back and do nothing. It's the same way our country is in the situation it's in. It's only fair we get involved. If we're gonna live here, we should have a say in things. That's something people unfortunately don't say or do very often.

Better yet, MOVE! You cant get the cell phone, fast lane coasting, SUV, gas price bitching rejects to do anything other than complain. Everyone loves drama and this is the new drama. The mass majority are never going to do anything about anything. Economy and gas prices. It is horrible here!

It is pretty bad here but if you move to any major city or suburb around them its going to be even worse for traffic and to some extent gas prices. With the decline of detroit for one reason or another it has left this area mostly empty. If your lucky enough to have a job around here its really not too bad.

No, aside from it all Michigan Suburbs are very nice. However, if you start to look at the foreclosure rates in your area you will be astounded to find out how many of your neighbors are just destitute and about to be homeless.
