Hey guys, new to this section of the forum. I own a Mazda2 but recently started saving for a Miata. I want to spend around 5k and have found some very nice deals on the NA Miatas which i love because of the flip up headlights haha... What do you guys recommend? And it will be a drift build not a daily driver... Thank you :)

.... What do you guys recommend? ...

recommend for what?

94-95 miata has OBD-I, so easier to tune. also has a "Real" oil pressure gauge in the dash cluster. Just try to find the nicest you can afford. might also register over at miata.net and clubroadster. you will get better input over there's. miata.net is a good resource for what to expect in a used miata. also, don't be scared by high mileage. the engine in those things is VERY stout. for an NA miata, 100,000 miles and the engine is just getting broken in.

I'm sorry, typed that quickly should have made myself more clear... Recommend for year. I'm not sure if all the NA models are all the same but I have a couple months of saving to do so much research will be done. And that's a great relief because the ones I'm viewing are between 100-140k miles

Thank you very much for your input I will register at Miata.net right now!

Greetings chumlet and congrats on your visions of Miatas dancing in your head! I purchased on Ebay about four years ago. I had 157K miles on her clock but had been pretty much pampered by previous owners(3). I call this my mid-life-crisis car because it has always been my wish to have a small two seat sports car to play with in my retired years. This car has fit that need to a tee and then some. There are so many sites you can visit in your quest. Make sure you dial up your local Miata owners club(s) because they always have members moving up and selling there older models. High mileage is going to be your common thread with these older cars but don't be too afraid. There are so many of us out here with experiences and stories, that you won't want for an answer to any question you come up with. This forum as been very helpful over the past four years and likewise it will for you as well.

Welcome. Best of luck finding what you want. Just be aware if you start talking about a drift build on Miata.net, you WILL get blasted. Clubroadster will be more forgiving as far as that goes. People are drifting Miatas but it isn't the best platform for that due to the short wheelbase and low power.

Thank you for the heads up and I know it's not the best platform. It was between a Miata and a 240sx but after driving my 2 around the past few months I would like to stick with them!
