Miata Car Rentals?

My wife and I are visiting our son and his family here in Northern Kentucky, spoiling the heck out of their daughter/or grand daughter! In a week or so we plan on traveling south to do some sightseeing in Tenn. and would really enjoy it more IF we could see it all in a Miata! Is anyone aware of a place that rents Miatas? I miss my own 97 NA and am in need of a "fix" on some of these local twisties. Perhaps someone has more than one Miata that could rent one to us for no more than four days. Anyway, thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Too bad mine is down for a supercharger upgrade or I'd offer you a ride on some of our neat roads. Where in NKY are you? To answer your primary question I don't know of any place that rents Miatas.

We are staying with our son in Union, KY. The Triple Crown community. Thanks for your reply but isn't it sad that you can rent almost any kind of car these days but NOT something as common as a Miata!? What is this world coming to?

Hertz used to have the 3rd gen on their "fun" list, but not since 2007, or something like that. best you can do now is a current model mustang, i think.

Maybe check out the regional sections here or over on M.net?

I was going to say about the best you can do for a convertible will be a Mustang or maybe a Camaro. I think it all comes down to which manufacturers will give a fleet rate to the rental companies, and which cars they know they can rent out. Let's face it, there aren't that many people who would rent a Miata, at least in this area. Maybe in places like CA you could find a specialty place that would rent them.

I know it won't help any, but if you have the chance get your son to drive you down to Rabbit Hash so you can experience some of the roads we have here. I love this area.

Thanks for the comments regarding my "need for a Miata fix", but renting one seems to be out of the question. I will most likely just rent some econobox, ie. a Ford Focus-type vehicle and enjoy the sights from that. Just where is this Ribbit Hash area in relationship to where I am staying? Is South? If it is anywhere near where we are traveling I could always take a detour.

Not a Miata but Enterprise rents the new Fiat500's. IMO better choice than a Mustang or Camaro. I only know this as I saw one in their lot last year when I was returning the bad Malibu I had for an insurance rental while my car was in the shop.

Easiest way will be if you Mapquest it. Route 536 from Union will take you pretty close to it, it's one of the roads I was talking about.

My biggest concern about the Fiat is it's size! I would hate to get caught in one of those "Kentucky Clear-Ups", clear up to your ass in water downpours in such a low to the ground cars. Otherwise, I think it would be a fun car to drive. Way back when I owned a 1967 Fiat 850 Coupe and it was a real kick in the pants fun ride. Alas, back then then tag of "fix it again tony" rang very true. Most likely will just rent a Ford Focus because of the good press I have read about this world car. My little sister just got one two days ago and she loves it.

Greetings all. We have returned to our So.Cal. home after a wonderful journey to KY & Tenn. We ended up renting a car through "HOTWIRE" and got a great deal. The car ended up as a 2012 Chrysler 200. The rate was.......not hold your breath........was a humongous $80.34 for a five day, unlimited mileage "weekend" special. The car was a slug but got over 30+ MPG!!!!! Tenn. was beautiful and so were the folks we met along the way. Nashville Flea Market was filled with the treasures in old costume jewelry my wife loves to shop for. We visited the Hermitage, the former home of Pres. Andrew Jackson. A must-see if you go there. We drove back to KY country via the 127 Hwy. just to see the road where some many enjoy the shopping in August on the worlds longest garage sale! We arrived Tues. and my Dad passed away the very next day after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Then someone backed into my Miata at the grocery store just to add topping on my sad week!
