Meth injection

just use pure water. Water is for the detonation surpression, we put metanol for anti freeze purpose. Water is all we need, and its much more efficient than 50/50.

As for the AFR, rich AFR is for cooling purposeand faster flamefront speed. We tune for richier 11.5-12 because the extra fuel to cool the combustion chamber. But the water injection cools way better, mainly because water absorb heat more than fuel.

So when I tune with water injection, I aim for 12.5-13 AFR. More 12.5 because its the fastest flamefront speed. Anything less than 11.6 you lose power.
 
So I just realized the kit I got used a 0-5V output from a MAP sensor as an input for the controller. Does this car have a MAP sensor anywhere, and does anyone know if it's the standard 0-5V output? I didn't think we had one, but I was browsing rockauto.com for an unrelated part, and stumbled across a listing for a MAP sensor...

Input/suggestions?

My car runs better on straight meth. Straight meth was the best, then 50/50, then 30/70 (apex ww fluid). Pure meth really helps me the best when it's hot out.
 
If you've ever touched Methanol with just nitrile gloves on, you can feel how cool it is to the touch, regardless of surrounding temps. It's far more effective at cooling than a Intercooler. But you already knew that, Joe.
 
Well great, now there are two completely opposite recommendations. I guess that means the only logical choice is to run 50/50. lol

Though I can see the logic in starting out with pure water, since it will provide only a cooling effect, and won't mess with fueling at all. One thing that does worry me a bit is the idea of tuning for the extra fuel from the methanol, then having a malfunction and suddenly being crazy lean.

there are failsafes for this very reason. check out labonte motorsports. they make some nice products.
 
I was about to post about how most of those meth controllers cost as much as a rebuilt motor... but I'm glad I checked first because some of those products are very reasonably priced. Thanks for the suggestion!
 
I've been running methanol injection for awhile. I was able to run a degree or two more timing, that really came in handy up over 24-28psi of boost where I had to pull a bunch before.

I experimented with a direct port injection setup, but the complexity both of hardware installation and control outweighed a single massive fogger nozzle, which I currently run, controlled via my Haltech.

Just do with i did, run 4 parts meth to 1 part nitro ha.

Well I have done that same "test" on just bare skin, and it's a huge difference. Put your finger in 50/50, then blow on it. Then do the same with pure meth and you'll find the temp drops dramatically.

Also, just an aside, methanol tastes funny.(drunk)

Absorbing of Methanol in the skin can cause serious health issues, although repeated exposure is usually needed. I used to work with literally tons of it, and you eventually can't even smell it anymore, dangerous. So, with that said, I'd steer clear from drinking it, hahhaha.
 
sorry to thread jack but this questions been in my head for a while. Do any of you think i could run a meth nozzle on the bottom of this coupler without it destroying my maf?

Just put it as close as possible to the throttle body while still having some room to manipulate the coupler / TB connection. Methanol vaporizes pretty quickly, so with air always passing through the MAF area, you shouldn't have any puddling issues or anything like that. Best idea would be to drill that pretty manifold and do direct runner injection.

I just tasted what was on my finger, lol. And don't worry I don't go sticking my fingers into methanol too often. ;)

Never put the injection before maf otherwise your car will bog as s***.
