I hit a low curb turnng into my parking spot and messed my bumper up pretty good. I believe only the vinyl bumper cover was damaged. The puncture and scuffing was right below the driver side fog light. The light assembly itself appeared to be undamaged. I take it the whole bumper cover will have to be replaced? I already called the dealer and was quoted $450 for an unpainted bumper. Is the dealer my only option? I am not interested in anything aftermarket. Can I leave the new bumper at a body shop, have them paint it, and bring the car back for the final install? It looks like some areas of the bumper were mounted with rivets so it's beyond what I can do in the driveway with hand tools. (scratch)

buy a lip maybe that would cover it up but guess u dont want anything aftermarket...

The black deflector pieces on the bottom of the bumper are not too hard to replace. You need a drill to get the rivets out, and then get a rivet tool and some proper-sized rivets. The deflector part comes in two pieces (driver's and passenger side) and cost $22 per. I replaced one a couple weeks back and the hardest part was drilling out the existing rivets - which wasn't hard at all. Drill and then take a pair od pliers and twist off the remnants. all this after you take off the bumper of course :)

I have to check my stash, but I may be able to send you some rivets since I only have my driver's side to do.

DAMN YOU CURB!!!!!!!!!!!

I myself have damaged my front bumper, the bottom lip part to be exact. Hit a peice of torn up tire on the turnpike and warped it pretty bad. Dealers and body shops all told me that only thing to be done was get a new bumper and paint it, which would cost around 900 - 1k bucks. 1k for basically 6 inches of damage. Took it to Maaco and the guy quoted me around 300 bucks. Still haven't done it, but when I have the funds that's where I'll be going

maaco cuts cost by basically not preping their work, and then shooting CHEAP paint. with is pretty much the worst combo ever. If you're that desperate to save money... do the work yourself, and shoot medeocre quality paint and a good clear. You'll end up with the satisfaction of a job well done, you'll have spent a little more (next time will be cheaper cuz you'll already have the paint gun, compressor, and tarp or whatever you used for a paint booth), and a car that will look good FAR longer than a maaco job.
