Mental Addiction Motorsports 3rd Gen Protege Turbo kit

someone correct me if im wrong -- but didnt someone post about this saying that the EGR somehow helps to lower the heat around the cylinder walls or something along those lines ?? not sure if thats correct but i know i read this somewhere in here :)

i dunno but i have never gotten a CEL cause of the egr or failed emissions because of the EGR. been running it for about year and a half and and 15k miles. no problem related to egr not beigned connected. i dunno why is so important.

Yeah..that was me.

With the egr plugged up...you will cuase the car to heat up more..and it will also advance timing...due to higher engine temps.

yep, EGR just recirculates the un burned gas, so i dont see HOW NX count soars. its basically a loop, just for emissions purposes.

what do you think the output will be if i have this kit and 2.5 catback, fs-ze, mazdaspeed camshafts? no proven #'s needed but just a good guessamets

proof i have nothing better to do but ask ?'s

few questions,
What would you say is the top speed with this kit on at 6-7psi, and/or 9psi?

all in truth, i think it'd be easier to ask how much $$ your willing to spend and just how fast you'd like to go or how much power you'd like to make. (remember to be REALISTIC with your power/speed goals). that and along with other variables like if you use it for everyday, you want to use it for show purposes, etc. will definitely help you make an easier decision. (burnout)

No need to go that far into the question (lurk) i'm not looking to hit a magic # just wanted to know how fast the protege is possibly able to get up to with this kit installed running at 6-7psi and/or 9psi (which last time i looked is 186whp, & 209whp@9psi) or with any other kit but mainly this one (i already bought the MAM kit (thanks beau(lol))) just had nothing better to do but ask questions that others may like to know and i felt like asking. but just to put it out there my goal is 300hp or 300whp and what ever it will allow me to hit mph wise

iirc the protege's are rpm limited to somthing like 150-160mph anyways... so how fast you could achieve is a moot point, several people have redlined in 5th with turbo kits on our cars.

(omg) I like those #'s, thanks for the info. I enjoy learning new things about my car. Now that i know that, i can put that info into effect when and if i ever get to a event that is on a long@$$ road, plus bump #'s against other cars and people i know plus tell one to (stfu) when he starts talking $h!y@t and i know differently. now to find out about that rpm thing

Top speed is limited by the gearing and the redline.

Given the standard gear ratios in the 5-speed manual that comes in all third gen Proteges at redline, you will top out at about 145 mph.

If you are looking at using this kit at track day events, the important figure would be torque. You need it to pull out of the corners. Top speed becomes irrelevant at that point.

You could raise the redline and probably get up to 150.

i good with what it gives, never was one to ask for much besides it was just to know i may do the track thing one day but not while it is my only means of trans plus or trq is good and thank god its better than the civics(piss)

beau- i just noticed this now but is my intercooler supposed to have 2.5" (i think it's 2.5". it looks like it) inlet/outlets on it? i noticed everyone elses' is 2" in/out. i know i have the casted end tanks and all but just wanted to know if this was the part i was supposed to get.

also, did you get my PM about approx. when the downpipe, turbo, mani, MPI Tuner, fuel pump and the other additional stuff will be shipped out?? thanks

i have a question dont they say that an intercooler can make the radiator over heat beacause of the way it is mounted
