So right now I know its over kill for what I am running right now but for future I dont want to spend the money on a splitsecond now and relize I have reached a wall a year from now. I have been looking into the megasquirt systems and am very interested in running the standalone. anyone out there have any experiance with the megasquirts, what are the pros and cons that you have ran into.

I just bought a microsquirt along with a gm map sensor. Ill be running it using an AEM wideband 02 sensor. The microsquirt runs the same software as the megasquirt and its preassembled and available for purchase at diyautotune. I cant comment on the ease of use and tunability since I have yet to install it. I've done all the tuning on my previous vehicles (RSX Type S, 09 Civic Si both were turbocharged and supercharged at 1 point) usin Kpro and flashpro respectively. As far as bang for the buck the megasquirt is extremely hard to beat and the software capabilities (tunerstudio) are well develop with features most standalones in the market dont offer or offer at a additional cost. There's at least three members here on the forums running megasquirt I cant recall their names right now lol. Sorry for the long reply.

I will be running mega squirt 2 very soon. Do your self the favor and get the plug and play setup

I have never heard of Microsquirt before, and the site has no mention of Proteges or MSPs.

I spoke with one of their techs. (DIYAUTOTUNE) Since I only wanted fuel and timing control I was adviced to go with a microsquirt which is more than enough for running on parallel with the stock ecu. Back then I inquired about a PNP solution for the MSP, there was none.

For an average daily driven car that requires minimal down time for tuning and installation, the SSAFC is by far the best choice.

That's not really a fair comparison. The capability on the microsquirt is light years ahead of the SSAFC. Both systems have to be spliced in granted the microsquirt will require more connections. Regardless I felt the SSAFC just wasn't worth it to me considering how small the cost margin was.

I say what the hell, try it out. We could always use more tuning options. If it doesn't work with the MSP ECU, try a P5 one and tune the hell out of the microsquirt. What people tend to forget, is that a MSP is just a protege with a turbo kit on it.

Oh I'm going for it. I'll keep you guys posted. I should have it hooked up sometime after January maybe sooner.
