so akaveli? are you going, and if so when are you plannin on leaving. i have to work until 2am friday morning, and was planning on leaving somewhere shortly after that so i can spend friday evening and night downin FL. oh yea, im leaving from lynchburg va.

so far Yea. I just need to get ALOT of work down to my car before I can make another road trip to FL. I'm not exactly sure what time or dday I plan on leaving but one thing I do know is, I'd like to leave EARLY in the morning.

i dont care how fast or slow we go, i know yall are north of me and i would pick up the carvan in lynchburg, but i do know that i wont get off work until friday morning at 2 am... so if u wanna leave early friday morning that is about as early as u can get... but if anyone is down for that or maybe a little bit later we could meet somewhere, or maybe somwhere on a main road seeing the closest interstate to lynchburg is about an hour away.... ofcourse there is 29 and 501 that goes through lyncburg. the furthest south i've gone is myrtle beach and thats kinda on the way to FL but we've got a little while tofigure this out, i just know that im going and leaving VERY early friday morning so i can enjoy the nightlife in tampa friday night

well lol... how about this... im not even sure if im going, and im not even sure that if i go, where the hell am i going to stay/crash

if someone can arrange that for me then i'd be there definetely.. but yea... if people want to caravan, then what i had planned was, getting a group of people together and driving down to each other's places as a checkpoint i guess

and taking pics and what not as each checkpoint was achieved. till eventually we made it down there as i suppose we chilled/rested/crashed for a bit, to then drive all the way nonstop or meet with another caravan to FL

That sounds like a fantastic idea to me...the best way.

seems tentative that I might go.

So my plan is, keep it speed limit, and if possible go 5 over the limit, course anything higher than this and its your own risk, since it seems like i might be head of the caravan at this point, unless someone wants to take over.

occupying 1 or 2 lanes and keeping it at that (dont know at this point, seems like 1 lane might be done).

I would suggest filling up the tank at half tank for everyone once we start trecking over the long run of states that way we are conservative on gas, and on cops and their ticket quotas, and no one gets detached from the group...

Dont know if anyone agrees with this, but just to keep assholes and ricers and anyone that wants to irritate the caravan... that we run hazard lights on?

I've got a makeshift GPS (laptop setup) so if anyone needs anything i guess whoever is head of the group will pull over and everyone will follow suit?

I've already made the mapping out from springfield all the way down to the event, and its 15 hrs and some odd minutes... so I would also stock up on red bull/monster

feel free to add any more ideas, if anyone wants to defect from the caravan then thats fine... open for discussion/brainstorming

here are a couple of tips

run a single file line no the right side of the road, and stay with the traffic flow, if it means goin over the speed limit, do it, don't attract attention to yourselves, if you guys start obstruction traffic, it WILL get one of you pulled over

USE turn signals

avoid road rage, if someone cuts you off, let it go

walkie talkies are your friends, but avoid useless chatter

carry plenty of quarters and some petty cash

Thanks I totally overlooked the spare cash on hand...

With that said, I think I might make another thread with all these things that people add on to the list for reference, now walkie talkies i dont have, but if people have them and want them, then bring them, cause i'll be mainly in contact via mobile. If walkie talkies are going to be used, but there isnt enough for everyone, i was thinking of assigning captains for like every 5 cars one contact point/WT holder? thats my take on that course s*** never works as you plan it, but here's high hopes that it does

all seem like good ideas. It seems like I"m going to meet at your house I suppose Turtle of TIme, and then follow you down..this is assuming my car is done by then. heh. SO I'll need your address. WE should also map out gas stops, and extra stops...food, etc.. I dunno how many people would need that, but for me, and those of you bringing girls, it may be necessary..ya know?

they've got a hotel set up for us that we can get for like 70 some dollars a night, and its 70 dollars no matter if you have one person or four... im reserving one at somepoint this week.

nice dude. that's decent. I'm hoping we can work it all out. I'd be in so long as we can all figure everything out.

this is preliminary nothing set in stone yet bro.

we leave my place whenever everyone who's going with me gets there, and then we go to yours (daonly1around) and wait till you arrive get, get ready, take some pics, and leave for FL, and/or meet up with another caravan, so far its 3 people including myself, but yeah, i can put some money down for the room, other than that though, im broke as s*** and yeah haha damn you prez bush-it

i've got a suggestion, instead of pickiing a time to leave va, how bout a pick at time to shoot for to be in FL. thats what me and my friends did two years ago when we went to NO for the sugar bowl. we made sure we were there so we could enjoy the night life as many times as possible. I dont know if people are plannin on trying to stay two nights down there or not, but as of now and the cheap hotel room im planning on staying two. figured if im driving that far might as well make it worth while

if we leave from the heart of lynchburg city we'll arrive at fl around 4/5pm friday.

EDIT - I am also planning on staying for a few, maybe considering leaving sunday

negative, if we leave from lynchburg like i said at 2am friday we'll make it to the meet location by 4/5pm (traffic pending and scheduled stops)

but we can leave a bit later if you prefer to get some good sleep.

seeing as everything is still in the drawing boards, we can make changes as the caravan number grows

forewarning, i strongly suggest following speedlimits on NC/SC as the cops there are bastards

pfft. i got clocked at 130mph on i-95 in SC. Cop gave me a $300 ticket, no points. I think it helped that i pulled over into the shoulder as soon as i saw him in his hiding spot. I never paid the fine. It's been 3 years. I just don't think I should drive through that state again.

yea you can, just don't speed. LOL
