Everywhere i read says that the msp proteg is running the same transmission as the normal protege, which is why our boost is only at 6 psi. SO my question is, does anyone have any ideas on how to go about strengthening this transmission? I also know that our internals aren't the best for higher boost. So what would be a complete list of "bulletproofing" our engine, especially the block. I know the basics, stronger pistons, rings, rods, lower compression, etc. I know this is all very very expensive, but humor me please. I know someone out there knows or has had most if not all of this done. Aynways, all suggestions and comments are welcome and appreciated.

bulletproofing the engine huh? i know some of the parts: pistons, piston rings, rods, bolts, studs, crankshaft (maybe?). that's most of the bottom end. lowering the compression would be good if you're gonna boost high. the block should be fine since it's iron. then let's see, there's camshafts, valvesprings, retainers, valveguides and valves (maybe?), cam gears for tuning.
as for the tranny, i'm not so sure. definitely clutch upgrade, prolly flywheel, stronger gears, stronger axles, upgraded driveshaft (?), maybe even upgraded lsd.

Don't slam your gears, and shift like an idiot and the tranny will be ok. Many of us boosted protege drivers have been running for over a year on the stock tranny w/ no problems. Its all about babying it.
But if you need to, cryro all the gears, billet shift forks, a better lsd, double syncro's on 1st-3rd.

Unfortunately, the only tranny stuff available is the clutch, flywheel, & axles. For the rest, you'll have to go custom. With all of those mods, the MSP would be incredible.
yes the Axels are thicker on the MSP
why would you want to do anything to the crank, you guys have a steel crank, I wouldn't worry about it
when my brother blew his engine to hell the only reason we had to dump the crank was that one of the rods had welded itself to the crank, other than that it was in really nice shape, especialy since it acted like a blender with one of the other rods
