Jesus! some people have payed more than that for Protege5's!!!

I think 170 natural is better than 170 turboed... the suspension is much cheaper and easier to mod... plus the new design and new look...

But why would you need to mod Mazda3 if it can readily take on MSP... I think that's what gets the dealers worried... and hence the price...

The dealers aren't scared this is what happens to all cars that are at the end of the product line. They stand to lose money if they have cars just sitting on the lot so they have fresh inventory.

no...... that's like saying a 255hp mustang is better than a 255hp rx7. 170hp at 6500 RPM on a turbo and an n/a is the exact same at 6500rpm..... only thing is that in those lower RPM's and lower gears the turbo is going to smoke the non turbo. Don't know how many times i've pulled up to a mustang with a lot more HP than my RX7 and I've completely obliterated them... all thanks to having a turbo.

suspension is cheaper and easier to mod? No. Acquiring the handling of an MSP on a normal Protege or a Mazda 3 will be neither cheaper nor easier.

and coming from mazda and their recent horsepower estimates 170hp means 120hp at the wheels.

Mazda3's are not designed to compete with the MSP....

the MSP's are on sell in some areas because some areas have backstocks of the less desireable colors....... up here in STL the new Blue ones and the 2003 Black ones still sell for 20,050

no....

there are 1750 MSP's in the USA correct?

if you have a new product that there will be over 100,000 made (mazda 3) why would you want anything else on the lot to steal their attention?

Get rid of the old product (and the unwanted colors), make room for new product, make more money.

Wasn't it 2.0 = 150 horses and 2.3 = 170... ?

2.0= 130hp
2.3= 160hp

anyone wanna guess at what the market price on a msp will be in about a year?

Depends on mileage....

$15,500 on 2003
$15,000 on 2003.5

2003's seem more desireable nowadays due to foglights and what not

It'll hold price decently..... look at the MP3

yes i'm hoping 15K is where they will be at. i plan to pick one up this summer... it just depends on how much money i can save while at school, and make during breaks. i'm praying for T-25's!

Yup pretty crazy, some Mazda dealership in Riverside CA are sellingbrand new Speeds for $5,000 off MSRP. Now is a great time to buy folks.
