The standard mazda 6 does that. Its called "lifting". Just lift the throttle in a turn and your rear end will kick out.

Btw that photo isn't the best way through a turn. Looks cool, and its fun to do, but not good technique. Some of the reviews have pointed out the car is incapable of performing a power on oversteer, and instead oversteer is controlled by braking or lifting the throttle in the turn, like every other FWD car on the market.

18x7 tires + 3600lbs = understeer

Also, that could have just been the awd moving power to the rear and horribly unsettling the car, as it's been stated as doing.

Give me a break, you guys :( I thought it was funny! I'd like to see the next couple of frames and see if he saved it. Could very well have been a setup for the camera, as he hasn't near enough opposite lock.

Thanks for the education on the fastest way thru a corner, crossbow.....

Necessity, is that a STRETCH 6, or is it like an SR71 (elongates at supersonic speeds)? I love the action shot of the car in the corner. Now I know why the SSB guys were all in Miatas and not Mazda6's at the Runoffs.

i think it's a cool pic.....i'll never be able to do it in my pro because tires r too expensive

Yeah - the pic is stretched a bit to keep it in line with the other. Full size is http://www.afterglow.nu/rotor.jpg

Much better......I see you are hard on the binders :) What track are you running in that pix? Street tires or "R' compunds? Do you have a full sizze of the car in the turn?

That pic was at summit point - Going into turn 5. I was on Falken Azenis there, but I have r-comps as well for ViR. I have full size pics of the 6 in turns, but not that particular one.

Am I just seeing things or are the front rotors on the 6 red due to the heat? I've seen that happen on a BMW once.

Necessity is the lord of braking. Just wait till I get my coilovers on...not even nes's electrical homing ball can save your ass!

Btw merv, i didn't mean to be offensive...i just get perturbed when people start showing off drifting as a sign of some sort of performance vehicle =/. I think its sad the scca has embraced it as a competitive sport. At least the tire companies are happy =/.

I agree with you 100%. It's fun if you're just playing, otherwise it makes no sense to me. I've been doing track events since 1989 and road racing since 1995.

Ya I figured as such, from the nice spec miata sitting in your car info...which made it seem like I was insulting you, which wasn't my intention.

I don't really race myself, just try to hit cones...er i mean avoid them. So far I'm only partially sucessful. :) Look at the blue one run!

And yes...I'm aware you can fit a spec miata in my wheel gap. :) I'm waiting on my D2 coilovers to come in. Damn JDM importing takes forever sometimes.
