Mazdaspeed6 Clutch Fix TSB

I may have been mistaken about the CX-7's, I "thought" i remembered someone mentioning their dealership had been receiving them in for smoke as well. I guess it could've been a one time occurence at that dealer since there are no threads in the CX-7 section regarding this. In that case I retract my previous statement.

If you haven't already gotten this done, I highly recommend it. I dropped it off wednesday and picked up my car yesterday (Thursday).....

It's very similar to the 2007 ms6s and the ms3s

I was waiting for my car to be driven over to me and I went into the showroom and sat in the speed3, since it'd been a while. I depressed the clutch and noticed how smooth and light it was to press down.

I got in my car when they pulled it up, and I'll be damned if the clutch didn't feel nearly the same.....

Driving it...... the engagement is a lot smoother..... you don't need to use as much leg strength to depress the clutch and you will notice the engagement point of the clutch, as well as the clutch pedal itself are not as high up...

VERY VERY nice clutch........ If you haven't gotten this I HIGHLY recommend getting it if you're unhappy with your current "faulty" clutch you will DEFINITELY be happy with this.

and if you've been denied then I definitely recommend fighting it. Because the TSB is not due to customer complaint it's due to the ACTUAL VIN #s of the cars, because after a certain VIN # they started using different clutch parts... this is what I've found out. If they ask you about your complaint, I recommend using things like "The valet would stall it but drove off in a [whatever manual] car before he got mine." or anything of the sort where someone else who should have experience has stalled it, also mention stalling it on inclines, cause I know I've stalled my car on inclines, and now on the same inclines my clutch is PIE :D (as in easy.... easy as pie)

on a side note, the retarded guy from the rental agency had backed into my car after the guy parked and got out of it to give it to me...... then drove back to the agency and went HOME. Pissed me off, No visible damage, a few slight scratches, but I had a police report filed incase anything should happen with the axle, rotor, wheel, etc in the near future, then the rental agency is going to pay to fix it.

where is this TSB?? I called the dealership today and they said i would have to bring it in and they will take a look at it. So i will see what happens. I will be dropping of my car on tuesday.

brought mine in today as scheduled, and as i thought, the service manager there hasn't heard of the tsb, but he also said that customers usually will always come in with tsb's and that the dealership's aren't just given them, they have to find them out themselves i guess. but anyway, after an hour of them having it they called me up and said that in 7 days the parts will be in! yay lol

service managers can look up TSBs on the computer. helps if you know the TSB # to help lead them along. TSBs are by vin# so don't let them screw you around. got mine done with 13K on odm. clutch is really nice.

the bulletin number is 05-003/07

Tell them to go to their Mstore page where at the top right corner it shows "bulletins, announcements, etc"

and tell him to search for you car (2006 mazdaspeed6) and type in the keyword CLUTCH....... it'll be the only one that comes up.

Well folks, I just got my car back. Dropped it off yesterday morning at 8:30 and it was finished by lunchtime today. They also ordered a new keyless entry button for the trunk which will be in on tuesday. I decided I wanted to have the car back for the weekend.

The clutch is AMAZING. It feels just like the Protege5. You can start in 1st at any RPM and even let the clutch out at idle (on flat ground...slowly...but you can do it). Shifting between gears causes no bucking like before, it just melds smoothly like it should. I find myself shifting much at lower RPMs and using much less clutch. I can get smooth shifts below 2K RPM so if I want I can stay out of the boost power band. I can also downshift effortlessly without blipping the throttle. Frankly, this "performance clutch", "2 stage racing clutch" bulls*** that I have been hearing is just that...bulls***. The clutch is now smooth as buddah and requires much less effort. A normal driver wouldn't realize the power this car has unless they floored it...and that's how it should be. I'll report back once I put some more miles on it.

Oh, and my alignment is off. The steering wheel is not centered when I drive straight. I'm going to have them fix that when I take it in for the trunk button.

Best part though, they detailed the whole car for me. Vacuumed the interior and hand washed the exterior. They found my bluetooth headset too which I thought I had lost. Woot. Too bad its about to start raining, guess my car won't stay clean for very long. I think I just heard thunder.

LOL it it's been raining all day today in FL, I got my car back from having the wheels aligned and having them check my rotor suspension, brakes, caliper, axle to make sure there was no damage from the rental guy hitting my car.

everything turned out great, which is a relief for me..... there are a couple MINUSCULE scratches on the fender (like 3) hard to see though so I got some touch up paint (free) and I'll just fix that up.

I agree the shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd is a lot more effortless and doesn't make the car buck forward during fast or faster than granny shifting.

lol haha I like it how i have to tell them how to do their job! Thanks for the info!

No problem man, I had to walk the guy through it too........ LOL

A lot of them aren't apparent about the TSB..... why? because it appears not everyone is coming forward.......only a few people from different states, you know?

like there might be 100 of us here trying to get the TSB done, but we all live in different states and different parts of the state.

On the mazda6 club forum I only know of ONE other dude that lives in the same area as me trying to get his TSB done, so I pointed him in the direction of my dealer.

My car was only the 2nd that they have done. The first was an 06 car that had just been purchased and the owner (who prolly test drove an 07) complained right away. They said several people have come forward in the past few weeks mentioning the TSB but mine was the only one bad enough to repair....but it wasn't nearly as bad as the first one they fixed. I think once the clutch breaks in the on/off aspect of it is less noticable but the pedal still remains hard to press and the catch point is still high and uneven.

My car is the first they've done I believe......not sure...... they didn't give me too much trouble with it and had it done a day, so chances are I'm not the first..... just seemed like I was. oh that dealer knows me REAL well now......after the little Enterprise visit..... which is good, cause at least they'll know who I am when I show up. :D

well i talked to the service manager at another dealer ship which is right next to my house, and he said that he has had one other mzspd6 in for the same thing. So i will be taking mine in on monday morning!

dropped my in this morning! Gave me some piece of $h!t cobalt to drive..... I hope they will be done soon. The service advisor first said that they will take a look at it. Then i told him about the bulletin and he was like your car does not qualify. I told him to check type B, then he was like ohh so what is your complaint. (it seems like you have to make a complaint about it or else they won't do anything about it) I told him about how diffcult the clucth was to use. Then he was ok we will check it out and the parts should arrive tomorrow and car should be done by tomorrow afternoon. So they wil be calling me to let me know whats going on.

Ill keep you guys posted,

Thanks,
Orlando

Talked to the Service manager at faulkner Mazda here in philly last friday. They will order the parts and let me know when they are in. Is the alignment part of the official TSB? Will probably call later today to see when they expect the parts to be in.

yay!! They called me today at 5pm and told me that my car would be done by tomorrow, they just dropped my transmission. They dont't have to order any parts since its a type 2 fix. So my car should be done by mid afternoon 2morrow. Ill have to make sure that they do any alignment as soon as there done. Ill let you guys know what difference i feel.

I have about 40,000 miles on my speed 6 do you think they will give me an issue about the TSB knowing I have all them miles I live in MD and work in DE

man wat da hell, just called Mazda dealer and the advisor told me that when they were removing the exhauast (has to be removed for the clutch fix) there was a problem with the O2 sensor and it didn't make it. (he said it was frozen in) So they had to order another one and the sensor will be in by tmorrow. so now i have to wait for another day!! shiet.....

I wouldnt complain, it just means an extra part thats new. :) I cant wait to take mine in for it, still waiting on parts. (I'm inpatient)

...hold on, they dont even carry o2 sensors? how can taht be?
