Any links to those threads?

I'm pretty computer illiterate, Don't really know how to post links but if you look at the threads in the mazda 3/MS3 welcome area, you'll see a few about the release date and pricing and everything.

Right click the link on that page and copy.....bring it over to the reply box and paste....done.

But then he'd have to search for the threads for you and there's really nothing concrete, anyway. My local dealer says that they have ordered 4 cars which will be built in August and arrive on the lot sometime late Sept or early Oct. That's the most definite thing I've heard. Canada will supposedly get their cars a few weeks to a month before we do. You can check out the official Mazda Canada forum's release topic at:
http://www.mazda.ca/forum/eng/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=7.

I think there's something in there posted by the Mazda rep.

I did a little search of my own, and thats what I came up with:

According to this road test, looks like Mazda blew it with the MS3...

Gosh, the newspaper columnist said it has too much POWER for an FWD. Uh, oh. I'm not going near an MS3. Not even for a test drive to see why he's the only one who has said anything about power delivery being erratic, ride being harsh, or steering feedback being uneven. Not even the Ozzie guy who just back from his first ride in the mountains of Queensland and who says in his post that it drives and handles great. Quite happy to have traded his M3 2.3L for it. Nevertheless I'd advise everyone to just STAY AWAY from the MS3 (at least until I drive mine off the lot).

It's just an opinion I guess. But his evaluation of the Golf GTI, Mini Cooper S ans WRX seem to match many other road tests out there... Anyways, a test drive is a must.

Yes the editor is pretty down on the MS3. Just shows that you can't please everybody...... or write a car review when you are in that bad of mood.

I am seriously looking forward to this car, sounds like a real DRIVERS car.

I can remember being just a little too young and poor when Mazda had the 323 GTX in the late eighties.

Keep Zoooooming

Wow, that's the first bad review I've read about the MS3!! While it may be too early to tell if Mazda blew it with the MS3 (we'll wait to see how it SELLS!), I tend to believe they blew it with the MS6. It is not selling well near Philly, and in N. New jersey. Now they already have $1,000 cash rebates around here on them. IMHO, it is underpowered and overpriced. Plus, since it's more of a mid-size sedan, it should have an automatic trans optional for the "family guys". The price point puts it within a couple grand of the Acura TL(comparably equipped), which has 265 hp and mostly sells in the automatic version(the "older" guys with a couple of kids). I suppose most younger folks would not think of having an automatic, but both the Maxima and the TL are competing with the MS6, and both have the automatic optional. I do not think, however, the automatic will be as much a factor for the MS3. Again, just my opinion.

The MS6 isn't meant to compete with either of those cars, more with cars like the subaru legacy. (dunno)

Legacy GT has automatic available also, though i'm not familiar enough to say if the manual or automatic sells better.

in that review the writer also noted that the car cuts power if it detects a sharp corner... now that can be a bit wierd if you ask me and that seemed to be his biggest gripe... not so much the loss of power in 1st and 2nd but down shifting into a corner and not knowing wth was going to happen when you hit the pedal...

Edmunds 1st Drive review of the MS Axela is nothing but praise, praise, praise. I guess the purported clumbsiness (per the unfriendly Oz review) of the electronic interventions to control all that power going to the front wheels did not jump out at the Edmunds reviewer.

Note: I cannot see my previous post about Edmunds 1st Drive of the MS Axela. Anyway, the website link is: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=116119#17

Also, all we know about the Edmunds reveiwer is that he was in the car for at least 5 minutes while it was moving. It could have been in the passenger seat. Although he describes the gearbox as "clean clicking . . . with short throws and a firm touch," that could have been with the engine off.

"purported clumbsiness (per the unfriendly Oz review)"

Maybe it's the Oz reviewer that is clumbsy!!! Yes, Mr oz reviewer, when you have a car the size of the MS3 with 250 hp, you have to learn how to drive it...duh

Its almost the same as the edmonds review. In fact It doesn't sound like either of those guys drove the car. At least you know the guy from australia drove the car.
