well well i see we are havind this discussion again.
I stand by my hatre for mazda engineers for not bringing a sedan. Damn them.
Ha, im joking i dont hate them... yet.
I do not mind hatches themselves at all; i thin if they are done right they can be really nice. I always liked the looks of the GTI, i think it looks very sporty and quick. But then, 2 doors? WTF, i cant do anything with 2 doors. And then the ms3 comes; and it has great power and it comes with 4 doors; except the looks are not as good. In a vacuum, i would think and say the ms3 is a nice looking hatch; however i am not in a vaccuum and it is not a first year release of the style. I have experienced better (the 3 sedan) and i have seen worse (the current 3 hatch); and after drivingmy sedan; i wish i had that kind of power in my car. The fact that i drive a sedan now has made me a lot more bias towards a sedan when otherwise i would be jumping at the chance to get the ms3. I am sort of with chico on this issue.
Now, i could go and get a ms3, but now i have the hope that next year mazda will bring a sedan version (just like Honda did, they release the hatch first, then the sedan); and if thats the case it would be awesome. Somehow i know it wont happen and at that point there wont be any ms3s left.

Not that I like it much but the Dodge Caliber "wagon"/hatch-back is one of the meanest most masculine cars in terms of look, and again it's a "wagon"... I would not call that car "girly"

chico, my lamboghini comment is in a sedan (male car) vs hatchback (female car) way, you dont see female vipers do ya? (there, re-phrased it for ya hehe)

dont get me wrong, the MSP3 is probably one of the prettiest wa..hatchbacks out there but yeah, the image of march simpson, a grandma or a teenager with saggy clothes getting off one is forever engraved in my head. Even the GTI which is a pretty car looks gay from behind with all due respect.

BTW, i gotta agree with that 'every family has one' comment...bad mazda!! bad! if you are targeting a young market dont do that (makes you think/realize its a family wagon)...if you are trying to excentuate uniqueness...then again, dont do that. Mazda should learn from the VW GTI...im yet to see a commercial where that thingy aint hauling ass.

P.S. im not saying Hatchbacks should be extinct, i just dont think they LOOK good specially if the look you are trying to achieve is a racing look. Now if ya wanna fit furniture, then hatchabacks are better (although if ya pact a pair, you'll buy a pickup/suv), just like you can fit big stuff into women hehe female cars.

Wagon, sport wagon, hatch, family truckster, grocery getter, blotted-ass POS, whatever, it's all depndant on your perception and the auto makers choice of vocabulary at the time of marketing. If people did not like them and did not buy them then the manufacturers would quite making them. At this time I am unaware of any law or general consensus that states wagons/hatches are undesireable or illegal. People seem to have a need/desire for them.

Personaly I love my P5 to death and will pass it on to my daughter one day hopefuly. I also think the P5 looks better than the MS3 but that will not stop me from parking my black MS3 next to my P5 in the garage when it gets here.

As for "girly" as an adjective for these cars, to each his (or her) own. Danika Patrick?? and all the other ladies out there kicking butt as well as having a nice butt. I would love to get into 1 or 2 of them.

The sedan. How many people have swapped MSP engines into P5's? I'm fairly confident this will be the reverse with the MS3. Remove that horrible top mount IC and stuff the engine in a sedan. Hood clearance issues should be non existent but easily overcome if so. Looks wise I prefer the 3 sedan but the hatch is more practical for me.

So you say my car looks like a family car? true, cant argue with that, cuz i dont care cuz its you own opinion and i respect it. Im very much aware the MSP3 is faster than the MSP6...for a 0.1sec..wow huh? I bet if I add a CAI, I can put it right there too. And even so, AWD will give you a faster/better punch when you hit it. Overpriced? lol, can tell you have never bought an AWD car before...thats why it costs more, yet they have pretty good deals, i got my 'family' sedan at 27k...i dont think that will happen with the MSP3..they will probably try to sell it around 24k-26k just like the GTI.

Watched one get delivered today off the trailer. I was just leaving the dealership and the truck came, i had asked the girl in service she didn't know so as I went outside from picking up my MSP the truck came and I hung around, saw underneath, inside, under the hood. The seats are very similar to the MSP in styling not shape, under the hood is jammed pretty good but overall it looks really nice for it's price range. I like the 3 better then the 6 myself and I thought it looked sweet.

Apparently the truck driver was saying he delivered one to another close dealership and one of the managers immediately hopped in and layed a nice patch on the ground.

SO now i know they are delivered, the test drive comes soon.. although the one off the trailer was already sold.

Listen, I am very happy with my penis size and comfortable with my masculitnity where i dont need to buy a car because its "manly". Sure you wont see me in a VW Bug convertible, but come on. I dont give a s*** if it has sparkles in the paint job, 263 turbo horses pulling a 2600lb car all for under 25k? Where do I sign!! Call them wagons or hatches or whatever, I now drive an Altima and its too much car for me. Give me something small and light with cargo room to load up on camping/beach/snowboarding trips and I'm in. I cant wait for my 99 Nissan to die so i can get back into the Mazda family. I loved and miss my 91 Protege.
