Mazdaspeed Vs Integra

If you just wanna go fast get like a older civic hatch.
I think it is pointless having a 300hp dd fwd to be honest.
Make the msp a fun dd and get somehting rwd to rip around at the track!

At least if u build the MSP, you can make 380whp and 390wtq, while in a honda u'll make 380whp and 110wtq lol

as a HONDA OWNER... i have a 96 dc2... with a built gsr, I have had WAY more problems tuning my mazda and have considered selling it more times then i ever would with my integra... stock gsr makes about 170 ISH STOCK.... add some internals msd ignition, ecu injectors and what not.. and bam ur over 200 n/a... do some more work and add a turbo and some cams and your seeing your way to 300... for me.. I started working on hondas and i was forced to buy a mazda when i got stationed at fort riley... dont get me wrong it is a fun car.. not many people have a p5 turbo'd or even a msp around here... but that is here not there.. i have spent 3 thousand in cams, head work bottom end... not to include the 3200 i spent on a decent turbo set up that s*** its self out, just to buy and upgrade to a bigger turbo, that is more then likely going to throw me more tuning issues... and im still not breaking 300 hp.... in my integra... well ill make out the price list

car 3200
hondata ECU $200
rc 550's $260
aem fuel rail $169
Skunk2 PROSTAGE cams $599
SKUNK2 complete valvetrain $400 ( homie hookup )
Skunk2 IM $300
edelbrock TB $200
Apexi N1 catback $500
Greddy turbokit t3/04 $2700
fabricated midpipe $50
92 eg radiatorw/conversion and fans $300 ( junk yard)
Greddy Type RS came with the kit
Kraft Intercooler came with the tubro kit
Fuel pump 159

im sure there are a few things like spark plugs and what not taht i cant think of... but the grand total was.....8537 hell... ill even throw in 2 thousand more for labor adn dyno time

$10,537 INCLUDING THE CAR to make OVER 350hp at the wheels... this is why i pretty much am done with my mazda.. i love my acura... always will.... however... at the same time.. i like having my lil mazda that no one has.. or not many.. so im stuck on the fence too...

my point to all this crap... is no matter what car you choose.... they are expencive to mod.. and make fast.. a msp can get there.. but... there are limits... where honda has broken the 800 hp mark... mazda proteges ( non that i know oh) have broken that set.. but hey.. they are both fun.. hondas are by far cheaper though...

and just a little edit to my last post... the reason why i was asking in another post about injectors.. so ya'll dont flame me.. is cause im a honda guy.. and i dont know the world about mazda... its been a pain in the ass tuning this thing...

There has not been a 800 hp protege but having a 800 hp FWD car is like having a 40 inch dong! Youll never get to use it..... EVER!

lol VERY true... however my integra is my daily driver... and it is RELIABLE at over 400 hp... where as my protege5 has issues every other day... ohh and MOST gsr's come factory with LSD...another added bonus

Are u sure about that? Well its a 323, but its an FS in it, CPBoost in PR built it 741whp, car did 9.3 spinning all the way thru 3rd

741, now granted that I'm not that great at math does not equal 800 so I still stand at "There has never been a 800hp protg" although that the engine in the CPBoost 323 was out of a 03 protg. There is a youtube video of that car on the forums somewhere but anyways. I did hear that they were talking about upping the boost and re-tuning it to get more hp. So there has never been a 800hp protg.

Yeah but you cant say "well there probably is a 800 HP protg" lol I'm not being a dick I'm just saying that there never has been one and there is no proof of a protg OR fsde ever hitting or breaking or even getting close to the 800 hp mark that I am aware of.

-Not trying to be a dick.

Well they do have.. Creative Performance with their 1st Gen Mazda 323 With FS-DE Engine running on Alcohol did over 750whp at 45+ PSI, thats 862.50 HP so it has been done Bro fwd cars have a 15% loss so do your math... also having a High Horsepower FWD car is a matter of parts combination and driver to have good traction and trust me you really get use to it and its fun ass hell lot of people are completely wrong with the 300whp FWD is useless i say to those they just dont know !!!

LOL it's just there for the entertainment value. A conversation piece.

Yeah it's a lot but I get by. (nana)

my buddies gsr lived forever at 10psi on a t3/t4 putting down 270whp. Now he has a built engine and runs 20+ psi. Definately 100 times more reliable than my msp has been, but its still a honduh

btw all these people getting their cars stolen, you never thought to put a hidden switch on your fuel pumps? seems like a no brainer if you have a honda

the point of VALUE is that an acura is cheaper to build a acura as a mazda... and that is a 323.. that isnt a msp or a p5... COMPLETELY different

+1

I'm putting in a hidden fuel pump switch when I do my engine management install.

In my opinion, it just depends on what you want. Don't get caught up in the honda hate or the mazda preaching. I love my MSP, but I don't drag race it and I don't try to make it too fast. These cars are a blast to drive, have awesome handling, and are pretty reliable. But they aren't race cars without a ton of work - and eve whe all the work is done, they're still front wheel drive. Sure, you can make it fast, but if your drag racing, why would you want a FWD car? Better yet, why would you want a four banger? If you're gonna throw 8 grand at a car the MSP just doesn't seem a logical choice, but to me, a GSR not much better.

i need to d alot of work to this car i think since i am gonna use the car as a daily driver im just gonna shoot for low 13s so here is what i have planned for the Msp this is after i fix everything and replace part that have wear and tear on it such as clucth and brake etc and fix my gay ass hood and front end...I dont think im gonna get the forged rods and pistons and im gonna run 10psi

1.Weld the lsd(??????How much and how can i get this done???????)
2.FMIC,new pipes,bov
3.Turbo Manifold
4.Intake Manifold
5.Upgrade Turbo
6.SS AFC/Wideband
7.Motor Mounts
8.(find some rims)/Get Drag radials for when I race...
9. Any other suggestions????
