Mazdaspeed seats???

The brackets aren't the problem although, those seem pretty bad. Its the make up of the actual seat that breaks on impact. This is what will break your back in two. And how often are you at 100+mph? Even at a spirited drive you shouldn't be touching 100.

Exactly. It's the shell construction that you have to be worried about. If i recall correctly, Mazdaspeedgirl's hubby or someone was in a Miata that rolled in which the only thing that saved him was the seat.

Without a doubt. You don't want to mess around with this key piece of safety equipment. It's a pain that they're so expensive, but it's because it's not a trivial part on the car.

i don't know what you guys are talking about, but the seats aren't going to save you from anything. your seat belt is going to take all of the punishment.

Ebay seats...like t3ase says are just there for the people who get suckered into the flashy prices and big banners.

Your seatbelt, seat, and airbags go hand in hand to ensure the most safety is provided in the event of a crash. If the seat fails and disintegrate in an accident..then what's the point of a seatbelt when you're not in the correct seating position to provide the most restraint? Whats the point of the airbag since your head's not in the direction of the steering wheel anymore in a head on collision because your seat just put you through the windshield?

they're great cheap seats..... IF you're putting them on for a show.. but seriously.. like budha said.. everything goes hand in hand.. seat belts and air bags are there to lessen/minimize the injury!!!!
PERSONAL THEORY: if you hit something infront, your first reaction would be back&head against the seat so you wouldnt go face flat on the steering.. then bam, the joint on the seat breaks, so you're lieing down in less then a second.. and the force on you would only go forward.. basically your knees would be stopping you from flying out, NOT the seatbelts... well enjoy the rest of your life...

just my 2..

so ture man. how many Type R stuff are out there man. Just go for the expensive because expensive must be good stuff.
*finds the "english mother ******" pic*

seat belts connected to the bracket on the seat. the seat belts connected to the bracket on the seat. the seat bests connected to the bracket on the seat and the world keeps on turning.

For those in doubt, I'd suggest watching some of those crash test videos while paying attention to the seat itself.

anybody can infact bolt "racer seats" into a car. so what makes you different???? just like ever other car out there. strive to be different and grab the edge. for about 1200.00 you can get your interior done custom.
you won't have cool racing seats like every car out there but a interior that
stands out.... plus there not safe and not street legal in some parts... (gun)

out of curiousity, do they make a device that plugs into the side airbag harness if you decide to replace the stock seats with aftermarket ones. I was looking at a set of Cobra Sidewinders to replace the stock ones, and figured if i take out the stock ones, then i would get either a CEL or airbag light. Worst case, if they dont make such a thing, then ill settle for new upholstery, but make sure that the airbag will still work correctly. I know you cant cover them with anything and im sure theres probably some feature in the side that has to be the same.

After some carful examination of my seats;(I think that I may be one of the only people install these, definatly the only person to attach them to stock brackets) I am taking them out this weekend and putting the stock ones back in, the reason is because the new seats are attached the bottom brackets which are only attached to the bottom portion of the stock seats, the stock brackets are not ment to support the full seat. I am turning these seats in to two high quality office chair that will we able to sustain crashes of up to 200MPH, well at least on NFS underground. I will tell you all, I put them in I have look at the brackets that come with the seats, and I tried to install them in the safest way possible, they don't work, DO NOT INSTALL, ONLY BUY THEM IF YOU ARE MAKING OFFICE CHAIRS. By the way I might sell one or both of the office chairs if the price is right.

while i'm sure it sucks hardcore that you didnt end up using them, i'm positive one day you'll be glad you didn't.
