I've been looking to replace my shift knob & e-brake handle. I had a Sparco knob, but the thing was a piece of crap. I found these on the Japanese Mazdaspeed website. Waddya guys think?

I like the E-brake handle, but the shifter knob just isn't that appealing, especially on the Auto.

I'm considering putting a leather shift boot on my Auto, and then getting one of those shifters might be nicer. We'll see how it goes.

the shift knob wouldn't look as bad if you cut the stick shorter. in my opinion at least....

yeah, I agree. I wish the stalk of it went down a little further so you wouldn't see so much of the stick. Anyway, I called the dealership here in Omaha to see if there was anyway they could order it for me: they said no way. (Damn!) Looks like they have it available on japanparts.com though. Now I'm just wondering if I want to even spend the money...probably over 250.00 for the knob, the e-brake handle and shipping to the states.

So I went ahead and ordered the AT shift knob & e-brake handle from japanparts.com -it took them 10 days to get back to me after I ordered the stuff, and at that time they had shipped it. My package shipped out from the Tokyo int'l airport on the 25th and the stuff arrived at my house on the 27th. I'm really glad I decided to go w/these parts: the quality is aweome and there weren't any problems installing the parts whatsoever. Here's some pics below. :D

You should blur out your address on the first picture.

Looks good, tell us about your pedals and dead pedal.

Whoops!, missed that. Thanks. Billet aluminum pedals & dead pedal from Ultimate Pedals (www.ultimatepedals.com). They're a custom pedal company based out of Florida. They do a great job and doing business with them couldn't have been better. Definitely worth looking into if you're ever interested.

Hey, what's that little toggle switch for? :D

Was the pedal set expensive? Are they made of aluminum?

The toggle switch is for my neons in the footwells. As far as the pedals go, they were more expensive than a set of Sparco or other aftermarket pedals, but in return you get a pedal that's guaranteed to fit, and easy to install. I think it cost me appx. $180-$200 for the set, but I would've paid less if I wouldn't have had the footrest made with the set. I also have the Mazda logo engraved on the gas & brake, which was a extra. Their prices are pretty flexible & determined by what you're looking for. Might sound like a lot of cash just for some pedals, but it was a good investment.

Badger Biker, I was just thinking the same thing...to put a leather shift boot on my auto Mz3. If you or any of you are trying to do this, contact me...maybe I could help...

Anyone have doen this? Are the measurements of the silver plate (base) the same as the base on the manual tranny?

Thanks

I ordered a shift boot from redline goods, and I am currently awaiting to receive it.

As far as the differences, there are no differences as far as the dash peices go. The only difference is the bezel around the shifter, it's raised for the automatic, and the manual has bolts to tie in the boot with. I am going to get a manual bezel from my dealership I hope, and that coupled with the removal of the silver peice of the shifter should allow it to fit perfectly and look pretty good.

Will keep people osted as it happens. (wiggle)
