im looking for a paint job on my speed 3 and im looking for a darker and deeper black then what comes on it, since what comes on it is a deep charcoal grey. what is everyones opinions on a matte/semi matte black with a clear coat finish on it?

1.desert camo
2.flat od green
3.flat black

I know these are different but ehh just throwing them out there

I think it's a waste of money on such a new car. Unless you absolutely can't stand the color of it now. I would wait until the paint actually starts fading to even think about it. You can make the current color on your car really pop with some nice waxes/polishes. But i would spend the money elsewhere...

yeah but iv got so many damn dings and dents from being in a parking lot at a college, AND speaking of faded, you know who most mazda speed 3 took the black vinyl off the door pillars, well i did and on the drivers side door pillar, theres a 4 inch by 2 inch oval thats completely faded to light grey, and im PISSED about it.

If I were I just wouldnt spend the money on a new paint job especially if you are going to be doing this huge engine build...you needs to have some back up cash in case something goes wrong

yeah well i just took my emblem off the back and theres the 2 holes plus it looks like a piece of s*** with little scratches everywhere, i hate it so much lol

please, please, please matte black it!

i wanted to matte silver my sunlight silver but i obviously don't have money lying around.

if i'm not mistaken, they can just colorsand the clear off and fix what needs to be fixed and use a matte clear over it. do it!

camo would be sick too.

i have black emblems on my car.. they look really good imo.. but if youre going to get your car repainted then just have them fill the holes while they're at it

I can't believe you're going to spend that kind of money on a paint job. Keep in mind any less than 4k is going to be a crappy paint job. There's so much labor involved. It's just just sanding and painting, every moulding and piece of trim needs to be removed from the vehicle to do it correctly, the quarter panel glass should be removed, all emblems etc. Plus you're talking repair time for all the little dings that you have.

yeah i just got a price for a satin black, its liek matte with a shine, and the door pillars hed do gloss black to match the tinted windows and rims... with all labor and fixing dings and what not he said roughly around 3gs and and its a life time warranty on everything. so idk, its expensive but the guy said itd be so bad ass.. ill figure it out after i get a price on the engine rebuild stuff

you do realize the scratches and swirls can be easily fixed by a professional detailer?

nothing is better than a 100% fully paint corrected black car. the car is so reflective and glossy it doesnt even look black.

gotta love debt, buying with the money u dont have, and its worse than scratches and swirls man, and thats the thing, the car doesnt even look black, when it should be, thats why i dont like it

it doesnt look black because of the scratches and swirls

I ***** these pictures, but out of all the details ive done these are still the best example of what paint correction can do.

your car looks gray because the light gets into the swirls and scratches, and doesnt reflect cleanly. it bounces around in the swirl think of swirls like tiny valleys in the clearcoat) making it visible. This takes away from the color of the paint.

I think what you need right now is find a new hobby, because it sounds like you're going to ruin a perfectly good brand new car with your "build" and paint job.

And in the process, you're going to go insane.

Now tell me I'm wrong! (boom03)

Just have the dings fix with a dentless repair guy and clay and wax your car. And put the damn badges back on...or at least buy some black ones...

Just my 0.02 cents.

yeah im gonna ruin the car by giving it fresh paint and a much higher hp rating. yeah. ruin it.

It already has fresh paint, its no more than two years old. you wouldn't be ruining it, just wasting 4 grand.

you are one cocky SOB. I just think the general feeling around here is...if you want to completely redo a Mazda 3, buy a Mazda 3 not a MS3 (or hell, go buy some beater and start with a frame and a stripped down body. We could all care less about the talks of painting a perfectly good car and your completely secret rebuild. If you had a better attitude we might even be willing to offer advice from what we have learned. Grow up a little.
