Mazdaspeed in Magazine

All I want to know is WHERE to get this DAMN SMIC...

There have been rumors that Mazdaspeed will offer this as a replacement upgrade, others say that Protosport will be doing it (I am not flaming any spicy mods!! :D ) I just wanted to know where.. :(

Good article crazy man w/ crazy boost!
Yes I want one as well and did you notice what they said about our turbo?
"Instant spool up is a result of the increased mechanical efficiency and frictional advantages realized by the full ball bearing GARRETT GT center section.
So it would seem our turbo is not just a lowly T-25R but rather something inbetween that and the GT25R. I just had to throw that in there.

anyone know for sure what duty cycle % the stock injectors run?
by what I've heard to get it to the stated percentage they were running something near 13 psi...

haha what happened spicy... Just flaked out on you?

nice pictures of the blue race car in the magazine.

I like how they were very scientific about the mods, ie measuring the back pressure, measuring the psi drop across the core, and especially dynoing each part separately. The only thing I don't agree with is "Why make 300hp and not be able to put it to the ground" So every musclecar ever made should be dialed back to the tires limits.....unnh, no thanks. I want to do hooligan burnouts next to the Chargers and Challengers in the back of the Dairy Queen parking lot.

Anybody see the supercharged V8 rear wheel drive Focus in this month Sport Compact Car? Now that's a hooligan.

I believe they were going for a street setup..... kinda pointless to have that much power because you will play hell trying to find a decent launch point plus you would burn em' thru half of second gear. I like their approach. Simple bolt ons to get us where we need to be. The MSP just isnt made to be a 12 sec car. It could be but its not worth it!

I just bought a copy...its in "import racer" magazine. Its a damn good article. They also noted the ECU problem and explained what the safest setting for flashed MSP. I never heard of this Circuit-Sport brand. Seems like they are also intersted in getting around the ECU program. Should be comming out with a "new ECU controller"

Good to know more and more people are noting the problems with the speed and spending some time to figure it out. They ran the car at 9.2 psi to get the 210 whp and 208 lbs of torque...much like a Stock SRT-4...but its only at 9.2 psi

Its also nice that they noted that the MSP was a well balanced car and thats there no need to make it a 300hp monster.

"Any addition of excessive power and your chasis dynamics go out the window. Why make it 300 hp and be able to put it to the ground."

I also got a kick out of the editor calling the SRT-4 a "Dodge Neon SRT-4." (lol) I have alot of buddies who own SRT-4s and its ture that you cant find the "neon" word or badge throught out the whole car and the manuel. But its ture...I just found that funny.

Agree, 300hp would be usable in our cars. It's called throttle management!

Well...yeah when that 500 hp SRT-4 came out everyone was excited saying it could smoke a Dodge SRT-10 viper...which has similar output. But that idea was quickly shot down because the viper benifited from a "sports car" design.

Can you say front wheel drive....add a dose of traction limitations and you have a 500 hp wheel burning pile of NEON. he he. Just messin around here. 500 hp, 300 hp it's all impressive. I'm about to drop some cash on mine, thinking of FMIC with a DP (with high flow cat), don't want to mess with a check engine eliminator. Anyway, nice knowing we can make 200 hp with simple bolt ons and an ecu upgrade.

Didn't Turbo magazine have a MSP they were working on too? I remember the article couple months ago, they used the IoN FMIC but haven't heard anything since. I like this article better, amazing how they did all those upgrades in 3 hours!

Damn turbo mag. I subscribed just to get the issues with the MSP in it and so far I only got one. Have they had it in any of the other issues?

Yea I just got my Turbo Mag yesterday and it was lame I was very disapointed it was a 2 page article well more like 1 and half well anyways all they did was put a SRI and a boost gauge, and thats it 3 months just for that shi*. It has a Blue STi on the front of it.(jerkit) oh and they flashed it. I wanted to see an exhaust put on or boost put up on it or something.

I have the Turbo mag at home. They did the ION CAI most recently. Maybe I will accidently post it when I get home?
They have a good point in the first page, 'if only the Mazdaspeed had 25-30 more hp it would be at the pinnacle of all sport compact cars'. The only thing is that god damned ugly neon with 80 more hp at the wheels.... it throws everything out of whack. But I guess they are talking about the total package not just straight line omph.
I wish Car and Driver could test one of our cars and re evaluate it with more hp. Their mantra is 'if enough power is added, any car becomes fun' - and they thought our car was tons of fun the first time around. I'm sure they would complain about torque steer & the noise of a turbo back, but just the CAI, Ion FMIC, FPR and MBC would be enough to hold off the competition in an all around comparison. Something like Discreetspeed's car they would love. Plain wrapper, sharp claws.
