update--my spoiler came in and it looks similar to the one in the first 2 pics. It was made in Austria for the 626. I'll post pics up soon. My friend said that the one I have is the last one ever

you're a waste of time
"ornament base" = 3rd brake light mounted to where the stock spoiler one used to be with the "mazdaspeed" ORNAMENT on the light itself
next time you n00bs need to think carefully before challenging someone who has every single japanese mazdaspeed catalog in existance.... you're all idiots for doing the same s*** like hundreds have done before you... try to argue with me and fail
O allright thanks..I was directed to that link as being a mx-6 one sry bout that
This one on the otherhand.. is a real MX6 one. (translated for you)

so you had the real thing and I was wrong... good job, you want a cookie?I know this is an old thread... But as a pretty damn good expert on the MX6 and especially on OEM jspec parts... having actually owned 3 jspec MX6's and 2 UK MX6's.. along with owning and running the UK MX6 owners club... I just want to say the following.
The Mazdaspeed rear spoiler was part of the Touring Kit offered in Japan only, it consisted of the following parts.
Front lip
Side Skirts
Rear mid level spoiler
Centre REFLECTOR - It was NOT a 3rd brake light, you might ask how I know for certain, because I owned one of them. I too believed it was a 3rd brake light a few years ago (the stock spoiler had it, so makes sense to retain it). It took me almost 2yrs to track down a complete Mazdaspeed touring kit... and as I had already had the old centre holes welded up and the bootlid debadged and painted... Decided not to fit the reflector. The true nature of the item is in the name 'ornament' if it was a brake light.. it would say it's a brake light... It's not, purely an 'ornamental' part that has no working parts, just a simple small reflector.
So how about that for arguing with you and winning... looking at a picture in a catalogue and assuming it's a 3rd brake light only makes you the n00b idiot. Please go back to school and learn some manners before acting like an ass, put on some big boy pants, take of the training wheels.
I await your child like attempts to prove yourself right once more... Hmm, you looked in a catalogue and saw a pic, I on the other hand the item in my hands and know for a cold hard fact... exactly what it is.
As for the deck lid spoiler this thread is all about. It is not a mazdaspeed part, but simply an optional extra in some territories. I have never seen one fitted to a UK spec car, which doesn't mean they don't exist... but there's a very high probability it was never offered as an option over here. I have a very good relationship with my local Mazda dealer who are very helpful at trying to track down jspec specific parts for my cars. I really hate the way things get labelled as 'jspec' or 'JDM' when they are not,.. only cheap knock off stuff being branded as such to con idiots into buying them... If it says Mazdaspeed on my car.. it is.. official... even if made for another model of Mazda (like my pedals and shift knob from a Protege).
I strongly suspect it was an option in the US and perhaps some other territories where the I4 was also sold... But as the UK market only ever got the V6 GT version of the car, it came with the proper stock spoiler.
