2008.5 ms3
I heard from street unit that the ms cai is going to br re released in december. I was going to get the hks but now i might wait. I hope im not replaying old news.

News to me, haven't heard that yet. But don't the MS CAIs give inconsistent readings across the MAF due to turbulence?

That's why they pulled it and have been (apparently) redesigning it. Although it had better be good given how long it has been off the market.

From what I've read... Mazda pulled it because of the misc issues with it (CEL/MAF issues, hydrolock, etc). I had read, forum posts only though, that Mazda had (or was almost done) revamped the CAI and would be re-releasing it soon. Again... sourced from forum posts and I'm still a relative MS3 newbie -- so, large amounts of salt are need with anything I say. ;-)

That said... since I paid for an extended warranty and keep hearing horror stories about voided warranties, the idea of using a Mazdaspeed CAI (and maintaining my warranty) is very appealing. I am hoping the MazdaSpeed CAI is released again.

i have ms cai and zero problem.

Ditto, no cel's or issues at all
However, if hydrolock is one of the reasons why it was discontinued (and I'm sure it is) duh...wtf, were the Mazda folks asleep when they saw the damn thing fitted on the car?

I have a MS CAI and I drive through water all the time because when it rains pretty bad where I live the streets flood. I haven't had any problems. That is the reason I went with the ms cai because of warrenty. I also got the extended warrenty. Love the difference it made in my car too

More bad information about warranties being spread around. If you hydrolock your car while using the MS CAI, do you think Mazda will cover it? If you take your car in for an oil change and they see a Cobb SRI, do you think they'll void it?

Rhetorical questions, but just something to think about. Having a part on your car (any part) does not void your warranty. Plain and simple.

I agree. You'd have to drive through 12" + deep water to submerge the CAI set ups on the MS3. However, that said, the design could be better. I went with AEM's version and love it. It doesn't matter what brand CAI you have, if you hydrolock your car, you'll be SOL in terms of warranty and rightfully so. The flip side is they are not going to void your warranty just for having one installed either. If you experience turbo seals going, simply switch back to the stock intake and go from there. Although I highly doubt intakes are an issue. From what I see leaking seals are likely caused by more boost from TBE's and that's a legitimate void of the warranty. Chances we all take.

Believe me, even if you have a MS CAI, and you hydrolock your car, they will NOT cover it under warranty. Just because it's a Mazda part doesn't mean you can drive it through deep water and expect them to cover your mistakes.

Don't take my word for it, call up your dealer and see what they say. For your own sake.

They're not gonna cover hydrolock, unless (remote possibility) you got yours installed by the dealer before you took delivery of the car and they didn't give you any documentation which disclaimed damage due to hydrolock. If you got installed after you took delivery the warranty definitely excludes hydrolock.

I don't go driving through deep water because my car isn't a puddle jumper. And the dealer installed it and I ordered the intake through them. I even asked them today when I took my car in for the 15000 mile check up, they said it is covered. So I guess I'm safe

I don't care what they said to you, if you hydrolock your car, they aren't going to cover the damage under warranty. If you think otherwise, then get it in writing in some way because it ain't gonna happen.

+1 ...have had my MS CAI since break-in, no CELS or MAF sensor issues, runs like it came that way from the factory, heavy rain in GA has not been a problem either tho' I did install an Injen hydroshield along w/ the MS CAI, more for piece of mind than anything else...
