I do dress like a bum but that's besides the point
There is no other dealer around me. Not unless I want to drive 8 hrs every time I want an oil change and pay for hotel/food/take time off.
I went up after work almost everyday this week. I'm a LAN admin at a university, I can afford the car. I'll admit, it'll be a little tight at first considering the renovations I just did in the house, but that would ease off eventually. I went up dressed as I go to work. I don't believe I need to pretend to be someone I am not when the person I am is the target audience for the ******* speed to begin with. I am 31, bought my 1st home at 26, no kids, no student loans, no loans at all besides mortgage. These "new guys" don't' know me from jack. They've only been there a month. Little do they know I know more "chief's" so to speak at Mazda Canada, and MNAO then any of these assholes ( courtesy of the days of the Clunk and law suits and such, the old members know what I'm talking about). Some of which can easily make their jobs much more difficult. Actually, the dist rep emailed me the weekend saying he's coming in town in a few weeks. He's a good guy, we talk s*** about cars and stuff. That's when this gets interesting. I'm not going to fight to spend 40k on a car. They don't want to sell it....fine.
Here's the story, because I'm still pissed and I need to get over it
Before all this starts remember that I had asked them to get in a Mazdaspeed 6 so could try it back in April.
The car came in last Wednesday, I seen it Thursday night by pure luck as I drove by for something else next door. They never called me to tell me it was here. Mistake #1. Friday was a holiday, closed on Sat. So, I called them Monday morning saying I wanted to take a look after work, 4:30. I said I wanted to get the car, pick up the woman in it at 5 and bring it right back. I would have had the car a total of 20 mins -30 mins tops as I had to be somewhere else at 5:30. I get some story how they are not sure what they are going to do with the car yet, if it's staying here, or going into the show room, or if they are shipping it somewhere else...we'll call you back. I get a call 4pm, they claim the car is sold. I got a little pissed at this, what if I wanted the car? I called 9am, and someone comes by at 2pm and gets it? So, I decided to at least go take a look at this beauty in person, and the entire time I'm there I can just feel the attitude from the salesperson. He wants to help, he is a good guy as I dealt with him before the takeover, but I don't think his boss wants him to entertain me for some reason. I told him, if the car does not sell, call me ASAP tomorrow, I'll come up.
So, car is sold right? I drive by the next day...car is still there, same ******* spot. Drive by today....car is still there, so I go in and see my sales guy again....car didn't sell. Imagine that! So I say, I want to take it out, and I get the excuse that it's being washed so we can put it into the showroom. He was uncomfortable with me again, I'm felling what a great excuse! Now, once it's in the showroom, forget it, I ain't getting a test drive...too much work I guess to get the car wash boy who gets paid 6 bucks an hour to do it again. Top it off with the fact that it's about to start snowing a lot here, and I'll never get a drive in it. Fine, nobody else will either with the snow we get. It'll sit there all f'n winter for all I care. Pisses me off, I've sold more cars for Mazda then most salesman for god sakes, I expect better respect.
If I ask to take a car, I expect a yes. I do not ask twice. If someone doesn't want to give me service or take my 40k bucks, I'll take that as a indication of how they will treat me down the road. I may have had a few Mazda's over the years, and Mazda Canada might know this, but these new guys have no idea of my history with Mazda, and so far treat me like any other import car owner looking for a test drive. Even the only salesman left from the old dealership came to work there well after all my issues with Mazda Canada, so he really doesn't know the entire story either. I do not test drive cars I don't want to buy, I simply do not have the time.
So, why Honda? Well, I can save some money getting it, spend it on other things....cough plasma....cough trip somewhere. The Honda manager is the guy I bought my speed from. Yes, he's at Honda after leaving Mazda. I also have had 8 Honda's over the years, good cars. That being said, the Civic is a major step backwards, a bit funny looking and small. But, I'll test drive it, see what I think, go from there. Honda doesn't make anything else I like until you get into Acura...but, there is no acura here. Small town. Otherwise, a TSX is something I would try, it's gorgeous with the A-Spec package. I don't know how much a TL is.
You see I met the manger of the new Mazda the first week they were here. When he seen my car, he immediately started with the " how fast is it" comments, and "do you wanna race my bike" nonsense. I'm not ******* 17! The guy most be pushing 45-50, and he came across as someone thinking of me as some Racer Ricer Boy. And I think that is where the problem started.
ok, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
The MAzdaspeed 6 is a gorgeous car. Anyone that has it...you are lucky.
