Mazdaspeed 6 UPDATE + Check pg 5 for detailed PICS!

Im supposed to go drive a mzspd6 some time this week. (finally) I just think it's too expensive for what it is... i was quoted somewhere around 31k U.S. for this car. too little car, too much money.

I guess the only way to confirm that is driving it...

It's a nice car I saw it at the Miami Beach Car Show is a luxury sedan with a nice engine comparable to a A4 which is 37,000+ at least that's what everyone at the show was comparing to.

One thing to point out...

The overall price of 6's has risen dramatically in 06. A fully loaded 6s ATX falls near to the base cost of a sport MPS 6 now!

The MPS 6 varies from 26k to around 34k, depending on options. You can get a MPS 6 for a decent price (probably around 24k if the dealer accepts all current rebates), if its a good dealer, who isn't trying to mark the car up.

I went up to test drive it, and the damn thing was sold.

@#$@#$@#

I got to sit in the drivers seat and that was it

I got to be honest. For 40 grand, I want higher quality wheels, a better stereo( mp3 player), and some damn side sills though.

that's not auto start or remote start.

We canucks want it because it's friggin cold up here. i don't want to have to leave my house to start the car. I want it to be warm before I get in it.

Yeah, no "auto-start" or "remote" start. Just "keyless" ignition and door locks, which is very cool, but doesn't help in the winter. Of course, the heated seats make up for that somewhat and the auto-climate control takes care of the fogging windshield at WHATEVER temperature you happen to set (up to 32 degrees Celcius).

40,195 is what I was quoted so far

damn

we also have a new owner at our dealer here. All new staff. I think that is going to be the deal breaker for for me right there. How they treat me over the next few months will determine if I want to spend any money at MAzda again.

Yeah, brother same price I was quoted for the Grand Touring with black leather. They threw in the tint for free although now I am wishing that I had managed to convince them to throw in winters on steelies like they did for the MSP. I don't expect that people are going to be getting much off on this puppy right now.

My local dealers in NJ are looking for MSRP.... Cars are already in Port Newark. (boom07)
I'd like to get one on the S-Plan but may not be able to (Dealers discretion). (humpleg)

I agree. While this car is still a Mazda, it is now ther flagship model and it reflects a degree of luxury not found in its other cars. It has a finish that is commensurate with other much higher priced luxury marques. Personally, I think that it is a lot more car for way cheaper than the regular luxury cars. Furthermore, it is more exclusive than the other luxury cars, of which you see plenty. Right now, in Ottawa (population 1 million) there are only 3 MS6s. Mine is the only black one (the others are silver and red mica). How many A4s do you see every day? Plenty. Or 3 Series' for that matter. This thing is bang on target.

Now....just to make it even more sinister...LOL! (glare)

It ain't that the wheels aren't high quality...they are just a stupid design. Although, they are somewhat reminiscent of the wheels on the A6 and A8, which may speak to Mazda's attempt to bring it more upscale. They would have a harder time distinguishing its target market by putting the same type of wheels that we all like. Really, it isn't target to us....well maybe me on the outside edge (at 35 years old), but generally their target audience is 35-45 years old. That demographic is "too old" to be into the race scene, but "too young" to be driving something stuffy. Give them the MS6 which is fast enough to be exciting, but sedate looking enough to not look out of place at your employers parking lot.

First, I gotta get me some winters on steelies though, cause we're supposed to get snow and freezing rain tomorrow. I'll have the winter to think about what replacement rims to get for the spring.

HEY!!! I AM A CANUCK TOO! I live in Vancouver BC... I have a garrage though. I still want autostart so I don't have to sit there while the car warms up. That's because I am lazy though... not because I am cold. Vancouver isn't that cold.

Anyway, I paid $40K CDN for my MS6. I looked into bringing up the same model from the states, but with conversion+tax it was just about the same price. Worth every penny after I swapped the wheels though. This car kicks ass... Wheels today... tomorrow.... TINT! :)

post pics with your new wheels ! I'd love to see the speed6 without those ugly ass wheels on it. with tint you should have the best looking ms6 on the continent.

What wheels did you go with?

I'm just being childish because I can't get the car :)

You make all the right points though, but I still don't like the quality of the wheels, and the paint used. I guess after looking at Racing Harts since 2001 with the mp3 and MSP I am spoiled :) Don't get me wrong, I'd still by this car, and I still like the wheels to a certain degree, it's just not completely my taste.

This car is trying to compete with audi's and Bimmers. But I can't remember the last time I saw either with boring wheels so they "fit in". Matter of fact most bimmers have some really nice designs that are really sporty, even more so on the M3 packages.

I would be very very surpised that this is the only run of Mazdaspeed 6's that they do with the investment that they have put into it. I have seen on other sites where they mention Mazda Expects to sell 5000 units in each model year. That would indicate more then 1 year to me. With a revision, perhaps another 2006.5 model since Mazda is famous for it, if the wheels are the same I'll be extremely shocked.

The decision is supposed to be made in January. The 3 month delay really hurt the chances of a second run. With the new 6 and MS3 coming out for 07 (possibly early summer release) seems unlikely at this point that they will do a second run, but they haven't officially closed that door yet. The technology in the MS6 will be used in other vehicles, so it won't be wasted.(MS3, CX-7, Japanese MPV, possibly a MS5 and MSMX-5 as well.

If you can't make the MS6 work right now Newf, just wait for the MS3 I guarantee it won't disapoint!!(thumb)

i agree that the wheels on the ms6 (and the lack of any sort of ground effects) completely kill the car to me. I would love a TSX with an appearance package or an s4 (based on looks alone) but the MS6 looks significantly worse to me than the 6s (especially the hatch)

if anyone has pics of an ms6 with decent wheels (other than the DGM ms6) then post em up.

i bet the MS3 will be sick, but im definitely over my whole "street racer" compact sporty car phase so im sure i wont get one.....

Does this thing come with any options at all? I just saw a commercial on TSN I believe and it was listed at $35,xxx MSRP. But the dealer here quoted 40K. Mark up?

Something like that...when a vehicle is limitly produced they raise the price cause people know they are far and few to aquire. Instead of just selling it for 35 they will wait it out for that person who will feel that 40 is worth it. Don't beleve me go to waldorf ford and dodge and ask them why the srt-4 w/o sunroof was 29K
