Mazdaspeed 6 UPDATE + Check pg 5 for detailed PICS!

I get to ride and drive dec 6&7 baby! Any Mazda people going to Atlanta for the course?

SVOGT,

The car's aren't broken in yet. You won't start to get actual mileage scores till they...

1) Are past the 5k mark (really past the 10k-15k mark to be more accurate)
2) Aren't in sub 30F temps
3) Aren't being fun driven (they just got their cars so they are having a blast!)

As such, the final drive changes are going to hurt mileage, especially around town. It'll probably get similar final mileage scores similar to a 6s v6...which is around 20-24 on average, with spikes below and above depending on driving style/condition. Mileage may also be effected if someone decides to cheap out and put gas of less then 93 octane in the car.

So the car feels good, not like that guy says? ......
It's not a show-stopper but I thought the mileage would be better than 18-20?

Car feels fine. Car has a 60/40 weight dist. The front end does push a little, just give it more gas to fix the push. Shifts weight to the back and then your gone.

You just have to understand that this is a SPORTS sedan not a coupe.

Sure there are things out there that are faster and handle better, but not for the money that the MSP6 is going for.

To put thing in context it pulls as well down low as my Porsche 944 Turbos S. Which is making 320+ HP and weights 2750 lbs.

Not sure as to how well it will be on the big end (top speed), time will tell. :)

When the lil red needle is pointing true north or to the right mpg is out the window :) After a month or two of spirited driving, and you settle down then try calculating MPG. Untill then have fun with your newly purchased vee-hickle

Thanks!

Thanks for all the comments.....
You guys seem pretty happy with your MS6's which is a good thing.
I thought about waiting for the rumored Fusion SVT in '07 (or maybe '08) but I drooled over the MS6 for about a year and now it's a reality I figured I'd jump. Too bad they are doing a major re-design in '07 as it may make this a one year wonder. That guy may be right about big discounts in the spring but I guess that can't be counted on. The deal I have is pretty good, ($2K off list), so I can't complain. Hopefully it will arrive at the dealer soon (it's in Port Newark now), so I can take it for test ride & decide for myself.... If anyone has any more tips, suggestions or ideas, I'd really appreciate it as this will be my daily driver and not just a toy. Please checkout the dealer's spec pdf file I attached.
Thanks! (cheers)

PS: Glad to hear the rear seats will fold down!

I had my test drive last night in a Pearl White Speed GT with 700 miles. I did about 20 miles including highway. It is a great car. Power is nice and builds early. Clutch is heavy at first, then light near the floor (the MSP clutch seems more linear). There is a dummy light in the headlight housing! The rear seat doesn't fold down (I ski). If I buy, it will be Bright Red with Black/White Leather and NO NAVIGATION. I love the keyless system! I would buy the MazdaSpeed Accessory rims and use em' for Summer with the factory tires and take the UGLY stock wheels and put the Michelin Pilot Alpins on em' for Winter. The only rebates they offered me was 2,250.00 USD for a 48/48 Lease. They will only sell at MSRP. OUCH!!!

The rear seats do fold down.

Check the How To section, I posted how it's done there.

Is the one that you test drove from Mazda Bedford? If it was I also test drove that car.

Other dealers in the area are giving S-Plan if your qualify.

I will check out the "how to" and yes Mazda of Bedford. How do I check into the S plan? Describe your Speed unless I missed it.

For S-Plan you need to have a family member that works for Mazda, Ford or a dealer.

As for my SD6;

I got a Liquid Platinum with the two tone leather an a sun roof.

onedeath,

Thats E-plan, and it only applies to direct family members.

S-plan can be given to you by a dealer, a friend, or even mazda themselves. There aren't any special requirements, you just need the pin for it.

If you autox/track, you can get an s-plan from mazdamotorsports.com.

Or a participated partner such as UPS, IBM, etc. Many large companies play into it.
I only found one dealer who will sell a MZDS6 under it tho. (thumb)

onedeath: What rebates did you get? I don't see any applicable ones.

haven't testdrove this car yet (local dealer still hasn't gotten them in) *sidenote: why does canada get these cars so much sooner? anyway, went to a carshow this weekend and was able to check it out. liked pretty much everything... except the seats. little-to-no side bolstering. even worse than the msp. I realize it's not an evo/sti type of car but still... a little support would have been nice. it had leather so the slick nature of the seats didn't help. maybe cloth would be better (definitely my preference). all I know is, after realizing the benefit of supportive seats in the likes of the wrx, srt & others... though I'm not willing to say it's a deal breaker, it definitely was dissapointing.

other than that though... everything was pretty kickass. I even liked the rear tailights that everyone seems to be complaining about. the wheels didn't even look that bad in person. guess I'll have to reserve my final judgement till after I testdrive it.

hmmm, I wonder if you american's are going get better rates, rebates and deals on this car like the MSP. i doubt it. Canadians egt screwed here. When you guys were getting thousands off through rebates on the MSP, we were still paying MSRP+.

385 american, convert that to Canadian, and I'd be leasing it tomorrow if I could for that amount.
