Mazda drivers finished 2, 4, 5, and 9 at the last Speed WC race of the year at Virginia International Raceway.

Pierre Kleinubing took the win after rolling the car three times during the top ten shootout qualifying the day before. He was in a battered and bruised car, but able to take the win after several leaders had problems.

Jeff Altenburf finished in 2nd place with Charles Espenlaub in 4th, Shauna Marinus in 5th and Roger Foo finishing 9th.

Full story can be found here.

Couple shots from Saturday, I will paste some race shots tomorrow when I get home and off this slow wireless connection.:D

And yet another killer little three wheeled picture of a Protege...

And what the heck happened to Hemmingson??

Hemmingson blew an engine and Fowler got together with someone and was put out. Not a good weekend for the OPM crew.

I would love to find a source for the SPEED windshield wrap!

I've added a GRM sticker to the middle of the front airdam (in place of the SCCA Pro Racing sticker in the above photos.)

The Speed series is what Trans-AM used to be and should be again. Real bodied cars that still LOOK and drive like the car they are based on.

Did you do one on the back too, Bob?

No. I do need to score some clear window decals from Tim & his crew at GRM at some point, though. I fought the impluse to add the sticker in the front, but it just looks right. (Remember I don't run a front plate.)

Now maybe the white hood and a TRI-POINT decal and...hey what about adding my last name to the windows...

Well, then all you'll need after that is a crew and we'll put you into the next season of the WC...I'll crew with you.

I like the zoom zoom in the headlights of the Blue protege. Wish I could do somthing like that to mine. Anyone think that having black outs on in the day with zoom zoom on them would look cool? Probably not... Your right. What the hell was I thinkin.
(mumbles from the crowed)...Pay no attention to him, he's an idiot.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! That race was so unbelieveable. I have never been so excited watching a race. My wife was even screaming at the TV! That was the first VIR race and my last NASCAR race. NASCAR has nothing on that. Mazda did great, I can't believe what that asshole  in the honda(piss) did to Bonacorrsi. That made me want to find a Honda and beat the hell out it with a bat.:p
Well it sounded good, cool race though. Can't wait till next season!:D

That guy in the Honda was TAZ HARVEY who was bumped off the race by Altenburg. Taz was blocking just a bit too much and I think he deserved being bumped off. But he should be penalized for entering the track right in front of a bunch of other cars, which got him hit (again) by another Mazda. This time however, that hit slammed him into the guard rail. Oh well.
