Mazda6 rumored to get turbo from cx9...cx5 next?

I get it, but its not impossible to accomplish. The weight ratio between the 2.0 and 2.5 turbo shouldn't be an issue. The the new MX-5 RF, weighs 100 more pounds in the rear with the added weight of the hard top. Mazda made tweaks to make it work, so not impossible.
Or like BMW who is giving up 50:50 perfect weight balance...

I won't be switching to a new turbo SUV, I will stick to my CX5. I rather start a hobby car build. Something, that not to many would build. VW superbeetle, Karmann Ghia or Vanagon, with WRX(maybe STI) engine, german look.

Not sure about this. People buying compact cars I feel like are usually not concerned about hp, torque, etc. They're buying compact for efficiency.

Meanwhile midsize vehicles, more likely to need more power. They're bigger, usually more optimal to carry more people as well. Just look at the v6 accord. Actually I'd like to find some stats on whether the 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder accord is more popular.

Accord's volume seller is likely a 4 banger LX (or whatever the mid trim is) with automatic. Around the 24k range. On another note about the 2.0 turbo vs 2.5, I'd get the 2.0L Turbo. Here's why. On a FWD car I merely want no more than 210hp to the ground. Something the 2.0l can do with 91 octane and some tuning/mods. The additional benefit is better mpgs and a lighter front end than the 2.5L. The 2.5l turbo with 310lbs torque is better in an AWD model. Essentially a $24k Touring Fwd Mazda6 with 2.0l turbo engine is something I'd buy as with a lot of people. A $34k+ Touring Mazda6 2.5l turbo AWD engine is outside my price range.

That is what I'm saying, that a 2.0L T should be fine.
Check out the new Sportage 2.0L T, has 21/26 MPGs, you would want worse then that?

A 2.0L Turbo is plenty. I got 409awhp outta mine on pump gas and stock turbo...and got the factory mpg to boot, well unless you really let that turbo spool hard a lot... ;)

I'm getting 37mpg highway and 30 combined in my Mazda6. If it had a 2.0l even with the turbo it may allow me to achieve 40+ highway and in the 33 mpg range combined because max torque down low via turbo gets the car moving. Thereafter the small displacement 2.0 engine uses less gas (vs 2.5l).

All that said don't be surprised if Mazda decides not to bring the 2.5l turbo to any other models. Skyactiv 2 is just beyond the horizon (no pun intended) around 2018 and I heard Mazda is aiming at 30% gains in power for the N/A 2.0. That equates to 200hp. That means the 2.5l N/A engine goes up to about 240hp.

Edit: Now that I think of it, I think Skyactiv 2 aims at 30% more better fuel economy, not power.

To me, those numbers sound almost impossible. I'm always around 21MPG.
Imagine, if I would have a turbo as well.
