Mazda6 reliability - let's get better info

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that made the differences between cars clearer. So a few years ago I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars closely as they age.

Thanks to the help of this forum, for which I'm very grateful, we've had excellent participation by Mazda owners. And the more owners participate, the more precise and comprehensive our results can be.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, following the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Mazda6, for free. I'll share results for the Mazda6 in this thread after each update.

Hi Guys,

I'm looking at selling my Protege5 and buy a 4WD Mazda 6 wagon. I have two options,

1. Mazda 6 2005 @91,000km $13,500
2. Mazda 6 2007 @72,000km $17,000

Obviously there is quite a difference in price but I'm wondering if the reliability changed between the 2005 and 2007 model. I quite like the facelift it had between the years.

Just looking for any advice out there on this purchase.

Sorry for the delayed response. I think the key difference is that the 2005 is older and has more km on it. At the same point in its life it was about as reliable as the 2007.
