Mazda5: Prices paid and related questions

2009 Mazda 5 GT - New - October 2009

Paid $25500, all taxes and fees included for a brand new 2009 Mazda 5 Gt w/ luxury package from Ontario Mazda in Toronto. Wanted a silver one and there was none in basic GT trim, manual, so we had to accept the leather and heated seats that come with the luxury package.

So far so good, other than the vibration we get when it reaches 105 km/h. I took the car back to the dealer and got them to re-balance the tires. The vibration is still there. The funny thing is that you cannot feel it in the steering wheel, but you can see the second row seats vibrating (side to side direction).

Found a TSB about "BODY VIBRATION AT CRUISE SPEED" for 2006-2007 models. TSB #03-001/07.

TSB DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience a body vibration when driving approximately 55mph. This symptom is due to the
characteristics of the No. 3 & No. 4 engine mounts.
Modified No. 3 & No. 4 engine mounts have been established for service only. Customers having this concern
should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

--------------

REPAIR PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This repair should only be performed if all tires and rims are confirmed to be in balance and all suspension
components are in proper working condition.
Notify customers that use of the modified mounts will reduce vibration at cruising speed but may
increase vibration at idle.
NOTE:
Because idle vibration may increase, it is highly recommended to continue using mass production

mounts for all other service concerns.

What can I say, I hope I do not have this issue, because I don't want the engine to be hoisted out and remounted in a brand new car.

Any suggestions? Have you noticed this behaviour?

Replacement of motor mounts does not require removal of the engine, but only minor jacking of the engine to pull out and replace the mount.

Still, nasty problem to have in a brand new car.

Welcome to the forums. Please check the threads around the 5 Rims, Tires, Brakes & Suspension area so we keep this thread tidy. There has been a lot of talk around it already so there might be something in there...

Thanks

We picked up our MZ5 a little over a week ago - here's the stats:

$17,307 including all dealer fees, taxes, and estimated NJ registration fees.

The vehicle and equipment include:

YEAR: 2009
MODEL: Mazda5
TRIM: Sport Manual
COLOR: Galaxy Gray Mica
OEM OPTIONS: Wheel locks(WLK), Bumper Guard (RBS), Fog Lights (FOG), Mirror, Inside Automatic Day/Night w/Compass & Garage Door Opener (MRH)

Thanks for sharing the TSB - I am planning to bring ours in for the same issue. My vibration starts at around 55MPH, and I can feel it with my right knee on the shifter console, and through the steering wheel. At around 85-90 MPH the vibrating subsides, and at 100+ I'm paying more attention to law enforcement!

I'll advise on a different thread once Service gets on it.

went and looked into trading our 07GT in on 2010 GT with sirius, man prices have gone up... best I could muscle is $13k for ours and $23k for theirs. We bought ours for $20.5k... gotta say though I do like the handful of improvements they've made to the interior, the DSC is enough to make it tempting... ours spin tires on wet ground so easy, granted I just sold a subaru legacy that I had gotten used to uber traction.

New to the forum and on day 3 with the new 2009 Mazda 5 GT. Wanted to contribute for the next guy, but my info won't likely be valuable to many since the 2009's are almost all gone. Ours was the second to last in the city.

Here are the nuts and bolts.

Our 2009 GT stickered for $25,825 and invoiced at $24031.
$22,675
$2000 for Navigation
$200 for Pearl paint
$200 for auto dim/compass rear view mirror
$750 for destination

There was a 2.9% APR for 60 months offer OR $1750 factory to dealer incentive. We came out far ahead taking the $1750 and 5.19% APR offered by GMAC (Chase offered the same)

We ended up paying $22250 including the $750 destination + TTL etc...

"might" be getting the LAST '09 manual I was able to find anywhere reasonably close. talking around mid $16K. hoping, hoping...

Here is a 2010 for $16997. The 2009's have a $1750 factory to dealer incentive that the 2010's don't so you could possibly dip into the high $15's.

Good luck, Rob.

they aren't offering that rebate in my area. all that's on the table is the 'special' low ARP.
the only manual M5's around here are gray or silver. this one I found is red mica; I did a search, and there aren't ANY '09 manuals within 200 miles, red or otherwise!

The extra $1750 may be a regional offer on 2009's, but FYI... it wasn't publicized and I can't find anything online about it so make sure to ask about it and see what they say.

Don't assume the extra $1750 isn't on the table for you. It's not advertised anywhere that I can find however after enough prodding I learned from a local dealer that not only is there $1750 on the table but there is some other dealer cash amount available to further lower the price. Personally I think it's $500 but the dealer would not divulge the information. Just purchased a new '09 Mazda5 Sport MT for $15,700 plus 5% tax (But including all fees). I wasn't interested in stability/traction control, I've been driving a basic 17 year old FWD vehicle for a long time now in one of the snowiest states in the country and have never had a handling or traction issue. For $15,700 and what you get with the Mazda5 I think it's a fantastic deal.

Make sure you start somewhere around $15,500 with your negotiations if you're looking to purchase a leftover '09 model.

Good luck.

Welp we traded our 07GT in on 10GT with sirius satellite and compass mirror
We got $13k for ours (47k miles, only options were the ipod adapter and tinted windows)
We paid $23k for the 2010GT with sirius satellite and compass mirror
We don't have sales tax in Oregon and we transferred our plates, so fees were minimal
We paid $20.5k for our 07GT new, prices have gone up some but considering all the niceties they added its fair.

just got a quote from another dealer TOO far away, $15699 '09 sport manual. great deal, but worth driving 250 miles to get it?

8 hour round trip for $800 savings. I don't make $100/hour.... so I would be making a road trip.
I see what you're saying, but there is the added hassle of the time (I don't make $100/hr, but my time is valuable) and you know how dealers are, once I'm down there they could dicker w/ my trade, or the added 'fees' could be higher (they refused to specify the "plus additional fees" part of the quote), or I could get down there and they could say, oh, we don't have that one anymore, etc, etc, etc.
sounds like I'm trying to convince myself, maybe I am, but driving 45min down the road to get a car I've already seen and driven is a lot more appealing than driving 5 or more hrs one way(it'd be a nightmare drive through the city) to get a car I've never seen.
UPDATE: the low ball dealer was quoting me a price BEFORE freight and 'processing fee'. so right there, there IS NO savings; freight alone is $750.
no deal. I'll be going w/ my local guy.
thanks everyone for your help.

2010 mazda 5

I've been looking around this site for a few days now and noticed that there aren't any 2010 Mazda 5 owners here....is this a model year to stay away from??? I've read some negative comments on the exterior design of the 2010 model. I plan on purchasing the 2010 this weekend....should I try to find the 2009 instead or are there any good reasons to get the 2010???

Look harder and you'll see my recent posts including on this thread. I just traded our 2007 in for a 2010. If the deal is right there's no reason not to buy one. We've had ours for 2wks and 1000miles, gas mileage is on par with our 07 so far. My only 2 complaints so far is there's no more glove box light and every single interior backlight is green except the gauges... which are a trick electro luminescent, but would be better if the rest of the car matched. We got the red n tan leather GT, love the colors and it seems a bit snappier than our 07' which is the difference in AT4 vs AT5 I would imagine.... to that regard the hwy rpms are a 300-500 lower. The big additions are the traction control, arm rests, rear ac vents, heated mirrors, rain sensing wipers, aux in jack, and redesigned interior components
