Mazda5: Prices paid and related questions

Just got my 5 today!

I took advantage of the CARS program and traded in my beyond-well-worn 2002 Kia Sedona on a 2009 Mazda 5 Sport (in that awesome metallic blue) from Roger Beasley Mazda in Georgetown TX (just north of Austin).

We got lucky and found a demo with 4,200 miles on it (but untitled so it still qualified as new for the CARS program). It had the "popular equipment package" - 6-disc changer, side sill extensions & rear spoiler. Price: $17,200. We also added a Mazda luggage rack for $360.

We looked at every crossover, small SUV and minivan under $20K and for us the Mazda 5 was the clear winner, especially when we found the deal on a demo.

Looking forward to many years of fun with our 5!

Hello.

We just took delivery of our Black Sport Auto with PEP, weather mats and wheel locks - taking advantage of the CARS rebate by trading our gas hungry SUV. We paid $14223 OTD in Cinci, Ohio. Minus the CARS rebate it was $18723 with 6.75% tax, fees, etc. MSRP $20395. Apples to apples with Edmunds TMV it was $16895 with the $3500 total dealer reduction including $1750 and $500 Mazda rebates.

Next step is to start adding a few options like fogs and roof rack. So far we love the car.

Bought a black/black Sport model with no options(not even wheel locks) last night in Maryland. The car just landed on the lot a few days ago with 2 miles on the odometer and was still wrapped in plastic for the most part.

Dealer offered $16,667 plus tax, title/registration and $99 proc fee. The stock of Sport model in Washington DC area is dropping to nothing and the dealers are not expecting the next shipment till early August.

Thanks to this forum for helping with my purchase

bought a 09 m5 pearl white GT (still waiting for them to get it in) for 20,500 with cars rebate getting rid of my mother in laws old 93 ford van... still not too bad but not great.. i was tired and wanted to get outta there (we finished at midnight knowing that there was a possiblity that the extra 2billion would not pass...) sorry it barely passed last time so i really thought it wouldnt.

Just bought an '07 Black GT 5spd. No nav, leather or 6 disc, but everything else you can get on a Mazda 5. 18000 km (11K miles), clean carfax, first reg. in May '08, so it has 2 years/60 km left on the full warranty. Came with smoked hood deflector and smoked rain guards on all doors. I added the rear step plate ($37), 3rd transponder key ($42), and ordered a 6 disc changer ($50) and 5% window tint ($25) from Ebay. From the dealer (Jessel BMW in Vancouver BC) I paid $16,695 + 12 % tax (ouch). The local Mazda dealer claimed that they "just didn't know what they had".
Love my new 5, "Stella".

Just bought my first Mazda

Hello everyone,

I just bought my first Mazda--a Mazda5 Sport (MT)--only option was wheel locks. Dealer quoted me $16,130, I had a clunker trade worth $4500 to the US Govt (old pickup--was a spare vehicle) and Mazda threw in another $500, so my net was $11,080 plus tax and tags. Can't beat the deal, and so far it is a wonderful vehicle. Galaxy Grey with black interior.

I am in the Philadelphia, PA area.

Hi! On Saturday we bought a new blue/beige 2009 Touring with the rear bumper guard, cargo net, cargo cover, and wheel locks from a dealer in West Chester, Pa (outside of Philadelphia). The total vehicle price was $19,230 + 6% tax, $120 doc fee, $10 tag fee, $58.50 title & registration fee, $5 Pa tire tax = $20,577 OTD
That's with the $1750 cash back option since we got financing at 2.99%/36mos.

I can post this question someplace else, but since a lot of people on this thread have purchased recently, I'm hoping someone can give me feedback on the optional cargo liner for the Mazda5. With a beige cloth interior I definitely need to put something down, but I don't like ordering the liner sight unseen. I did that when I bought my VW Jetta years ago, and the quality of the foam liner was so low that I ended up refusing it and just used an old blanket when I hauled stuff around.

I ordered the one from the dealer, sight unseen. I feel that the fit is great and it stays in place quite well. Also, the quality seems to be good. I have had no issues with it and feel that having the sand interior, I couldn't live without it. Plus, I happen to like how it looks. Hope this helps! Happy driving!

The bad side: It's black vinyl with cloth on the down side, not heavy duty. After a year and a couple of months it looks ok, but it's showing some wear.
It also doesn't have a lip around the edge, it doesn't contain water.

The good side: It fits like a glove, covering the back of the rearmost seats and the cargo area. The seats split nicely.

I say it is worth it. It does what it is supposed to do, and that is protect the backs of the seats and cargo area. It just could be nicer such as the JDM cargo cover (see attached).

Buy it online for a cheaper price.

I'll add my 2 cents worth concerning the cargo liner.
I ordered it online and when I first received it it felt a bit cheap and flimsy to me. But after about a year of almost constant use (golf clubs, trips to Lowes, luggage, etc) it has held up very well. It does fit very snuggly and does not impede with the raising and lowering of the 3rd row. I'd recommend it.

We were offered the following:

2009 Mazda GT-Luxury
Auto Trans
White Pearl Paint
Remote starter (including labour)
Hood deflector (including labour)
All weather floor mats
Cargo cover
Cargo Net
8 free oil changes
72/160 comprehensive warranty
Block heater, locking nuts, etching, etc.

Out the door for $31K with 0% financing or $28K cash.

No one ever commented if they thought it was a good deal (in Alberta). Taxes included for those prices.

Base GT is 24K, auto trans about 1200, accessories 1000, warranty 2000, freight& PDI 1300. 29500 minus the 3000 cash discount= 26500 + GST, 1500.
grand total is 28000 out the door, retail, full price with no discount, so not really a deal of any kind. Did you get leather, CD changer, navigation?

The 3K discount is offered by the factory, so the dealer gets full price on your purchase.
