Mazda5 owners, the other rides (current and past)

Previous:
1971 Datsun 510

Wow, long time no hearing about this one. Dad was a proud owner of a 1970 wagon, I still recall it had a fancy Motorola AM radio :D

Something like this, but ugly blue:

Wow, that was my first car. I paid 300 for it. It was an ugly pale green with white racing stripes on the sides.

I had the coolest 69 510 2 door sedan. The clutch cylinder leaked constantly, the front suspension was bent so the car always wanted to go right, the tires, brakes, ignition, battery, alternator, interior fabric, window glass and paint were bad, and it was rusty.

However, it had a cool Momo leather-wrapped steering wheel (worn out leather) and 13 inch slotted rims.

I miss it still (30 years later).

Current: 2006 Mazda5 GS

Past: 1999 Ford Taurus SE Sedan - Started having serious transmission problems when hot. Of course when I gave it to my nephew it got cold and he hasn't had any problems with it. This summer will tell... Drove it from 188Km to 267K Km
1988 Buick Regal Limited - "The Sith-Mobile" - I hated this car when I had it but I kinda miss it now. I was kind of a graduation present from my parents/Uncle was getting rid of his old beater. It had 200K+ Km on the dial when I got it but it was black, all black. Black wheels, heavily tinted windows, removed badges and no DRL's. Next to impossible to find in the dark. Got into an accident while still a student and couldn't afford the insurance at the time. The place I was renting wouldn't let me keep it on their lot without insurance so off to the Kidney Foundation it went.

The Mazda makes car #15 at age 30. Hoping to keep the Mazda for a while...but knowing my track record I'm sure it won't last much longer than 2-3 years.

A1an, I got a good laugh out of the memory of the SVO. So strange. Was it actually fast? Was the engine any good?

It was pretty quick. I'd say it was faster than your typical foxbody 5.0l Mustang with the typical bolt ons. The 2.3t is bullet proof. They have been known to produce well over 600hp on the stock bottom end.

Prior owner of my SVO had the turbo rebuilt, manual wastegate controller to increase the output to 15psi, and the cats deleted. Pulled like a freight train and would, no lie, get 32mpg on the freeway cruising at 70mph. City mpg was another story...I averaged somewhere in the teens b/c of my lead foot. Biggest downfall was the top mount intercooler which was situated pretty much on top of the manifold and turbo. It would heat soak pretty fast in traffic.

Here she is. I sold her b/c I was laid off and needed the money to pay rent and car payments on the xB that I had at the time. I really miss her:

+1. Also, I'm sure you miss that SVT Focus as well. The new model should be coming shortly, hope to see the SVT trim as well

*Hijack Alert*

I have an '09 Focus SES coupe and saw the new ones. I think they look good, but the price appears, according to Ford's website, to be high when you look at the price of the new 2011 Mustang V6 with 305 HP. The new Focus is going to have to be one seriously sweet ride to pay over $20K for it when $22K buys the Stang.
