mazda3 tires

hi, i just joined to hopefully get some advice. i got my mazda3 in july (2008 model) and i'm loving it ! unfortunately i got a nice large screw in my rear passenger side tire last friday, and it is too near the sidewall to repair.

i have the goodyear eagle rs-a p205/50r17 88v tires. ~9000 miles on the car. tires were rotated with the 2nd oil change around the 6000 mile mark.

so i go to the local STS on friday and they say they can order me a brand new goodyear tire with the exact same specs as above for $170 including labor and the tire would have arrived today (Tuesday). i shopped for the tire online and thought that was a great price. of course it was too good to be true. i go in today after they call me, and after they install the tire, i see it is a goodyear 205/50r17 93h.

i'm not an expert, but i am particular about this car being my first new car and i don't want to have inconsistent tires. i tell them to take off this tire and put the spare back on. did i overreact and should i have kept this 93h tire ? they said they made a mistake and that the tire i wanted (with the 88v) was $270, a $100 difference.

should i look to find this exact same tire to go with my other 3 goodyear tires ? the local goodyear auto service center has the 93v tires in stock, but not 88v. is that OK ? or can i get by with maybe a michelin or other brand from somewhere else like a sears or a bj's ?

thanks for any advice !

You did the right thing. The higher load rating would have caused your car to pull due to the stiffer sidewall of the one tire. You must match the load rating to the other tires.

IMO ditch the Goodyear's all together, they gave me so many issues in the wet. I feel you did the right thing.
