Mazda3 Cracked Windsheild Straw Poll

Just wanted know if others had experienced a cracked windsheild on their Mazda3. Just bought an 08 and in less than 500 km's the windsheild was cracked from one end to the other. It started on the passenger side right near the edge of the glass and has spread all the way to the driver side.

I have seen several others on the road with cracks in the same place. I know two people that own Mazda3's and they both said they had the same thing happen. I have also read a several posts on different websites about Mazda3 windsheilds cracking.

I spoke with the Mazda dealership and they said I have seen so many cracked because the 3 is a popular selling car and there are a lot of them on the road to see. Also that because the 3 is sport tuned it may torque the windsheild making it easier to crack if I drive it hard, which I have not.

Just wanted to know if anyone else had a similar experience?

Thanks

the third paragraph is bulls*** and pretty funny too. I have heard the same thing about the windshields i say you go back to mazda laugh about the third paragraph and tell them to replace it.

Same thing happened to my Speed3, with less than 900miles on it. Was almost directly in the top middle of the passenger side sun visor about 1/4 inch from the edge. One day everything was fine, the next day went out to get in the car and noticed about a 14inch crack. Dealer said there was a tiny rock chip there and that caused the crack. I wanted a second opinion and went to glass specialist, they said the same thing. Also went to another dealer all the same thing. I did notice a tiny chip, about the size of the tip of a ball point pen.

ok so i washed my car today and saw my windshield with a small chip should i take it to the dealer and go through the hassle to get such a small repair fixed or should i wait till there is a really visible crack.

If there is a chip..they WONT replace it...THey will say it was caused by a rock or debris which is not covered under warranty.
SO go right ahead and take it to the dealer...They will tell you what I just did.

thanks i didn't know debris wasn't covered...sucks. It hurts seeing the body on a brand new 08 already getting banged up.

As long as you have full coverage or at least comprehensive, you can get your broken windshield replaced for free with no deductible under your personal auto policy here in Florida. Don't even waste your time with the dealer. Most companies will just send out a glass repair shop and not even look at the glass.

First sign of a chip, take it to a shop to have them repair it. Most will guarantee that if it creeps or cracks, they replace windshield minus cost of chip repair.
