Mazda Warranty Hoax

I have had my 05 Mazda3 for over 2 years. And only one problem... the #3 rod bearing spun and mazda won't cover the warranty. I changed all the oil myself at MY ASE cert. shop. I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with Mazda in reguards to the warranty coverage or if this a one time thing. Any help would be great!!

Do you have any kind of paper trail showing hte changes or you just "told" them you get the oil changed some where else?

Yeah if you do your own maintenance, you need to keep excellent records. Also, do you have any mods on the car? Usually if you modify the engine in any way, they will void the warranty.

I assume you're talking the connecting rod bearing on the crank? That's a pretty easy fix and can be done in a few hours if you are a pro wrench. I don't know why you'd spend a lot of time fighting them over a 4-hour repair.

edit: see this thread: I posted a form you can use to keep track of your maintenance:

I have "told" them and i have an affidavit stating under the penalty of perjury i changed my oil in accordance to the mazda warranty. I have also tried to put a new bearing in but it scored the crank to the point that the crank also needs replaced not just repaired. Mazda discontinued the crank from what the dealer told me and that means i need to purchace a short block from mazda. no junk yards within 100 miles of Indianapolis have any type of used 2.3 L engine. The replacement from Mazda costs $4000.

well i know the mazda dealership here in austin are worse than nazis....they threatened to jerk my warenty for not going to them once for an oil change.....then i had out with the service manager and told him to take his warenty and everything i was ever told there and blow it out his @ss.....they didn't like me there after that for some odd reason
