OK, I'm confused. Our 2019 CX-5 does have an M in the 8th digit position, so it has CDA. But it does NOT have i-stop, which from your statement says that it doesn't have CDA. Was that a typo?I just bought a '24 preferred as well in early March. The VIN number is the way to tell. An M in the 8th digit position means it has CDA and an L means it does not. If you don't have I-stop you don't have CDA...
That statement was referring only to the 2024.OK, I'm confused. Our 2019 CX-5 does have an M in the 8th digit position, so it has CDA. But it does NOT have i-stop, which from your statement says that it doesn't have CDA. Was that a typo?
the 2024s do/didAs far as I know domestic US CX-5's don't come with I-Stop, only CD.
Well that sucks. Hopefully not on the turbos or I won't be buying another one.the 2024s do/did
How do you know this? I called Mazda USA, and THEY couldn’t tell me if my 2024 CX-5 had cylinder deactivation, after I gave them the VIN. My car was made in 10/23.I just bought a '24 preferred as well in early March. The VIN number is the way to tell. An M in the 8th digit position means it has CDA and an L means it does not. If you don't have I-stop you don't have CDA... Also, the fuel monitor screen will show a front end of a CX-5 with the 4 cylinders going on and off as the CDA engages. Mine does not have that screen.
I think Mazda owes us some $$.We paid for something we didn't receive as standard equipment in to 2024s!
Where does your info come from?I just bought a '24 preferred as well in early March. The VIN number is the way to tell. An M in the 8th digit position means it has CDA and an L means it does not. Where's the 10% worse claim. It would be interesting to see if the units without CD and istop really get 10% worse economy as claimed (23/29 vs 26/31) in the real world.
It's in Workshop ManualWhere does your info come from?
... or before buying the car, look for that IStop deactivation button? While driving, go into the "Information" option of your infotainment system. Then fuel efficiency--->energy flow monitor. You will see a picture of a car with cylinders firing. Light foot the gas pedal and maintain a constant speed. If two of the lights from the cylinders turn off, then you have CD.
That’s one way to tell, and the VIN number:... or before buying the car, look for that IStop deactivation button?
I've got it programmed in my brain now as:... NOTE: To identify vehicles with cylinder deactivation, examine the (HENRY THE) 8th digit of the VIN.
• L(ove): 2.5L without cylinder deactivation
• M(isery): 2.5L with cylinder deactivation ...
Henry the EIGHTH, LOVE // MISERY
Haha
My 2024 Signature is the same way. No deactivation. It was born in March of this year. I'm not bothered by not having it!Confirmed that you don't have CD. Now, you needn't worry about HLA's failing and rocker arms falling off. It's good that you have picked up this model. Right product at the right place at the right time.
I checked with a dealer and they said the CX 5 with the 2.5 NA L without CDA had different heads but I can't seem to verify this. It would be nice to know it all the hardware for CDA and Istop were not installed??My 2024 Signature is the same way. No deactivation. It was born in March of this year. I'm not bothered by not having it!
