Are you serious? Do you know how much support the US recieved in the none "hard" cash value? How many international organizations offered services and specialized man power?KWSUPRA said:I think it is one of the worst if not the worst disasters in world history but I just can't help but disagree with all of the money that we as a country send overseas when we have so many people in our own country that are in need. In NYC alone look at how many homeless people we have as well as how many people die from diseases with no cure yet the US sends billions and billions of dollars to every other country rather than spend it on our own first. When September 11th happened how much money did other countries send to us to help out? Again, I am not against helping others out but I think we should concentrate on our own country more before sending as much money as we do overseas. This is just my opinion and I am sure many will disagree.
There is also a difference in the sense that the US is a country that "HAS" or is considered a "Have" country with the ability and infrastructure to respond to disasters..."The wealthiest country in the WORLD" can handle themselves (and should be proud of that) Many of the countries and people are in the 3rd world....and struggle as is.
Not to say that 9/11 was not bad...but 3,500 people who died tragically...verus 170,000+ (still counting and will rise due to the after effects).
You can not even compare....
I'm sorry that this thread had to go this route (in fact MODS, please delete if you feel to do so)..... but when I see pictures of the suffering... and become emotional.... how can I not respond to this post.
