Mazda CX-5. Mazda6

If they still sold the Mazda 6 sportwagon I would have bought one instead of the CX5. My trade in was a 2004 model that never let me down.

Isn't that basically a CX-5?

Its a station wagon, a dying breed in the US. I'd buy one if they sold them. The station wagon is the best form for utility and mpg. Compared to the CX-5 it would cut your wind resistance by a third and mpg would rise accordingly. In US, station wagons have become rare, while in Europe they are plentiful (Civic station wagon comes to mind). The very rare Accord TL station wagon is in US, but only a few hundred a year are sold. When station wagons overcome their "soccer mom" image, they will return someday.

I agree, I like a traditional station wagon. But, I think now-a-days, CUVs, such as the CX-5 are considered "modern" station wagons.

Mine was a V6. It had a longer cargo area with the rear seat-backs down and better rear visibility.

People get bored with functional design and want something new/cool. Of course, it could be car designers want us to buy add-ons to help support aftermarket products.

My Dad had a 1974 Scout II with 304 ci and 4x4, it was small for its class but could tow the 24' inboard we had, also have 2 full sized bikes behind the rear seats. It was very versatile.
