Mazda 6 V6 ONLY*** fuel mileage

The title is almost self explanatory, I was just wondering what some of you guys with the V6's are getting as fuel mileage, please say if you have a manual or auto tranny, thanks!

Average 20-24 mpg
Highest 27.6 mpg
Lowest 17.4 mpg

That was over the course of my ownership. I've got the 04 6s MTX now, but haven't looked at mileage #'s yet, as I'm still under 10k miles.

Damn looks like a litle bit of a killer on gas, but tell me, is some of your driving spirited, conservative, or mixed?

Mixed. Racing on the weekends tends to throw off the mileage a bit .

I'm not sure of the actual numbers but i have an Auto 6S and went from North Carolina to Pennsylvania on 1.5 fillups which is pretty good. Much better than my 2.5lt SE-R was and it was a 4cyl. It gets pretty good gas milage for a 6cyl but it is a small 6cyl and that is why. What i mean is it is only a 3.0lt 6cyl and cars like the Altima have 3.5lt which suck a lot more gas up.

Mikey, keep in mind crossbow is quoting U.S. gas mileage. Canadian mileage will be higher. Wife just picked up her GT-V6 auto yesterday, I'll keep you posted on the mileage.

BTW, the 3.5 liter V6 Altima does not suck that much, it's really well calibrated and tuned.

Well i owned a 2.5S Sentra same engine as in the Altima and it did suck gas. So i fugured the V6 wasn't much better. Nissan has high reving engines that are not so good on gas. trust a former owner. I filled that car up about every 3 days.

I get 18-20 mph........I drive fast so it tends to lower my gas mileage.

Does anyone feel that the auto shift tends to eat gas?

Does driving in a lower gear at higher rpm's eat more gas?

yes...reason the auto tranny will shift to 4th gear before you reach 35MPH in auto mode...you also don't activate vvt as much cause it shifts right on the boderline of it. now when I press the pedal down in automode t gets to 3000 and if I press any harder it downshifts and kicks and screams till 5500 unless I let off or apply more presure. Holding a gear in a auto will eat gas cause you stay in vvt longer. not shure how it is with the V6 but for me VVT=see fuel needle move!

We have a 2.5S Altima and sucks less gas than my Mazda 3. And all the online fuel consumption estimates I have seen confirm it. If your car sucked as much gas as you say it did than I am sorry but you must have really been rough on your car during break in period

Ya, but Premium fuel isnt burned as fast as regular fuel.

The 6i and the 6s don't really have a large mileage gap difference...maybe 4 mpg average seperation. Thats not that big.

Mileage is all about the driver, more then the car. If you like traveling above 4500 rpm, your going to pay for it at the pump.

If you grandma drive, and slowly accelerate from the lights, and avoid gear changes when possible, you'll get great mileage, but you also won't have any fun at all.
