Production has been pushed back till March (originally feb). Dealer order timeframe (US) may be as late as April now (just to order them).

This is part due to the recent fire, and a lack of available automotive steel.

Canadian MS6's for March production were ordered last week.

Still says in the letter everything's pushed back a month...heck its even warning that they won't be able to meet the normal order quotas for non special cars!

Mazda3 and MPV production is being scaled back. The MS6 March production for Canada wiil be unaffected. They're only allotted 226 cars for 1st month.

Hey guys I live in Japan and just visited the Shiga Mazda dealership. They have received a letter from Mazda HQ stating that the fire at Ujina No. 1 (U1) was in the paint curing line, and that this should not affect production. U2 (Ujina 2) and other facilities are slated to take care of the paint-curing portion of production.

As for the steel shortage, have you guys seen the Washington Post article on China (around September)? They had a photo of ships parked in the ocean as far as the lens can go, waiting to pick up raw materials from Australia. This includes steel which is being sucked into China. China, if growth doesn't slow down in that country, will turn into a black hole...

I am SO waiting for this car. It is now between the legacy GT (Turbo) od the Mazdaspeed 6 for replacement of my Acura in the fall. My wife and I both love the 6i...so...:)

There are additional problems that have just surfaced. Production was set to start in june, its been pushed to july. They are having some issues with some of the "additional" features of the car.

All I'm going to say is I have seen 2 Mazdaspeed 6's in person and raced with one on the track against my Protege5. Holy cow can those cars handle.

Its kind of cool to look in your mirror at 100 MPH and see a professional driver in a MS6 with roof and door mounted cameras filling your mirrors to the point that headlights are not visible.

If you were at MAZFEST-2005 you could have seen the two speed 6's.

For future reference...all the MPS 6's at mazfest and mazda run events, aren't production models. They are hand built models. No models have yet left production, as its slated to begin in july.
