Mazda 3 vs. Lancer Ralliart

Hey, I've been looking at getting a lancer RA, but went to look at a 3 today...it was nice, but I haven't driven it yet.
I was wondering how you guys feel tehy compare...most stuff I've seen basically relates to them being very close, and that it's pretty much just a preference thing...

If I go the Mazda route I'm looking at the GT with gfx(only b/c I want a sunroof, hehe).

As well, how's mazda reliability and such...being a part of Ford leads me to question, and is what helped keep me from looking at the 3 before...that and I thought it would cost more...btw, what are other people in Canada paying for the 3...the dealer quoted me at $502/month for 60 which works out to $30,000 at 5.65%...the interest seems high, as even going to Mitsu I can get 0-2.9% but they wanted $27,000 out the door which I'm sure when I actually go down I can talk them down to $23-24 000, which would make the ra cheaper...

basically, from what I've researched so far, the RA is a little faster, the 3 is a little flashier/luxury oriented, and for what I'm looking at they run the same in #'s...I'm looking for ideas of things to look at...ultimately the test drive will probably be what makes up my mind(drive)...and then it'll be a matter of fighting with the girl as her heart seems set on the 3 and mine was on the RA...(stooges)(bicker)

photoshop owns me. :(

seriously, I'd personally pick the Mazda. I haven't heard the most promising things about Mitsubishi lately.

i disagree, although i only drove the 3 and not the mitsu, i wasn't impressed. the 3 is ok, but i would prefer to fix up the lancer. this guy in my neighborhood has his mitsu fixed up, looks and sounds really nice.

yup..

That was also the final contender in my decision between the 3s and the rallyart...

I never got a chance to drive the Mitsu, but I went all over the web reading reviews and the Mazda seems to be the best value for the $$$.

I'm still very happy with my s and my wife digs her i (both MT)...

But since I never actually drove a Rallyart.............who knows... (spin)

....but of course the EVO is a another story.. (wink)

i test drove a lancer before i got my 3s and i thought the lancer was ok, but the interior was all plain, and so was the exterior i thought. im a little bias because i own a 3, but i think its way nicer then the lancer. just my opinion. (wiggle)

Ya when i wuz buying my car...i was checking the lancer out...but the second i saw the comparison between the interiors of the 3 and mitsu....i went 3 all the way....im still in awe of all the red lights in the 3..lol...

dude..forget the lancer and spend an extra 15 k on the evo!! lol...thats wut i said to my dad and i got slapped..jkjk

i actually just traded in my protege on tuesday for the lancer ralliart. i have no complaints about the car, it's awesome! i test drove both the 3 and RA. the 3 was great as well, but there was just something about the RA that stuck with me, so that's what i ended up with.

when I drove the lancer ralliart, it still felt like an econobox. I'm sure the evo is different. The ralliart version still felt like a cheap base model lancer with fancy rims.

lancer = ugly and cheap cheap interior and ugly tail lights

Mz3 = sexy, sharp handling ( for stock) and an interior that's lear years ahead in quality in comparison to the lancer. I cant see how anyone couldn't tell that.

Goodday...well yesterday was dealing day...(bicker)

and the decision is made...mazda wins...why?
1) slightly nicer interior
2) both cars drive very similarly

and the most important part of it all
3) mitsu kept trying to f**k me over by having me pay $38-40,000 for a car worth $20,000-25,000 (jerkit)...without boring you with the details I'll sum with the folloing points
- the sales guy had to ask me if it was overhead cam of not...so basically I knew more about the car then the guy trying to sell it to me(screwy)
- they tried to screw me by $4000 on my trade in (argh)
- niether the salesguy nor the sales manager could spell "Ralliart" correctly
- and I hate their favorite saying "so what can we do to earn your business today"...(piss)

so yeah, I'm gonna go mazda, and I think I'll like it more...(eekdance)

How in the world did they make you pay 40,000 dollars for a Mitsubishi?!
That's BMW prices!!! Isn't the MSRP on the window sticker??

I dropped by the Mitsu dealership and the guy quoted 23k (Canadian) after PDI and freight. MSRP on the dot.

They wanted ~545/month for 84 months...which is ludacris...

...I'm finding it pretty sad how the only dealer/salespeople that are willing to try to help us out are Saturn...but unfortunately I don't the Ion, and am not crazy about going with a Vue...I think the general idea we're getting now is to simply say **** it, pay off the Saturn we have now, and then look to buy again next year or something...really there's nothing else we can do b/c even to lease a Vue from Saturn we're look at $480+/m b/c even they are low-balling the trade, despite having people already interested in the car...

I drove both and the three is better in my opinion. The shifting on the ralliart is almost as bad as the shifting in the Tiburon. That had to be the worst I drove in awhile. Go back to the drawing board Hyundai. Not cuttin it.

So the RA is a pretty good contender for the Mazda 3? (Except for the interior)
Some people said the Ralliart has too much body roll. How much body roll compared to the Mazda 3?

Personnally from my test drives I found that the Ralliart handles a smidge better then the mazda3...
