Mazda 3 Turbo sedan

Hello all, I'm planning on ordering a 2008 Mazda 3 GT soon (once the dealership says we can start ordering them) and I was wondering as to why not more people slap on Turbos onto the sedan version of the car. That way you can throw off the GTI's and S2K's even more when they pull up next to your car. Anyways, with my 3, I plan on doing only exhaust and intake, by which then I'll save up until I can get that HASS Mazda 3 turbo (suppose to add 100 HP with proper tuning). So then I'll have a Mazdaspeed 3 sedan, clever eh?

Anyways, first post, I hope I enjoy it here!

First off welcome to the forum. As for slapping on a turbo, I plan on doing that once I save up enough money. I plan on getting the HiBoost kit. :)

you'll find a lot more people adding turbos to the protege's.. there are a lot more options and people are getting serious power out of them. Can you say 4-500 hp!

a 100 hp gain? I wouldn't get out of bed for that. What will you have then? About 230-240? not gonna spank too many gti's or wrx's with that.

But if thats the only and best options out there for your car, go for it. Whats it cost if i may ask?

That's with only stock engine parts though on 6 psi. Once I get reinforced equipment like cams, valves, pistons, crank shaft.. I'll be able to up the boost to around 14-18 with then, I'll be getting more like 280+ WHP rating... depending on what I do with the compression ratio though. Although, I think 300 area should be fine, especially with a FWD. Just enough to kick some serious butt.

EDIT:

Does anyone suggest any suspension mods that they might suggest? I'm thinking like really stiffening up the suspension BIG time. I practically want as little body roll as possible without lobbing off the suspension of course.

How could you compare the 2?! Proteges have been out much longer then the 3 has and plus the aftermarket support for the proteges is much stronger. Also there aren't alot of proteges that are producing that much hp. We have a few members on this board who are but not many.

Welcome!! Yeah, I have been batting back and forth about whether or not to get the Mazdaspeed3, just to have a turbo under warantee with hatchback utility, or turbo my car, because I tend to prefer the sedan over the hatch....if you get there first, let me know how it goes, I have only been looking at the hiboost kit

I was running 15 psi on my stock internals. You dont need to change cams or valves or crank, even when you run 14-18 psi. The most you'll need is forged pistons and connecting rods. And on a built motor tuned right you're looking at about 450-500 hp at 18 psi with the right setup.

I dynoed at 319 with 16 psi on my previous setup on a dsm t25 with a greddy emanage (wrx injectors, walbro pump, 3" exhaust)

The setup in my sig, thanks to the water/methanol injection, a lot bigger turbo and a good tune, I should be in the 500 whp range, no problem.

3's been out almost 4 yrs now, and your right there is a lot more support for the protege. Guess i shouldnt have tried to compare them. To be honest i'm not a big fan of the 3, so i'm probably jaded in my opinion. Kinda felt a little betrayed by mazda with it. Not a big fan of a rebadged focus. I've owned 4 mazdas, (323 gt, 323 gtx, rx-7, and the current protege) I knew ford would eventually turn the protege into a ford-zilla, plus i'm tired and in a bad mood so i'll just shut up now...

That's changing, there is going to be less support for the proteges as it is now been a dead platform for 4 model years. There will be more aftermarket options for the 3 soon if not already.

Well first look into Eibach pro kit or progress springs if your looking for a drop bwt 1.2 or 1.3 all around OR if you want a more drastic drop try Eibach sportlines or Road Magnet. Next, check out Racing Beat front and rear sway bars and get Koni FSD suspension kit.

Ugh, I don't feel like dropping the car at all, just a stiffer suspension. I gotta keep the car's height as I live out on many open country roads (I live like 45 minutes outside of Philly). But I want that stiffer suspension to be able to take the corners at higher speeds.

I doubt it will change that much. Hopefully the support for the 3s will grow better then it is now. But like everything it just takes time.

Oh, well Sway bar and Struts would help.

Why do you say that?

And no one's answered my suspension question? (poke)

I guess thats not really fair of me...its his brother i have beef with. My kit functiond flawlessly on 10lbs for 3 years before i had TBK "attempt" to buid a 300hp motor. Buy the kit, its worth it, just make sure you know what you are doing and are mechanically inclined if youre gonna do the install cuz these guys are hard to get a hold of in a bind.

Oh, I know how to install everything on a car. I've had a Ford Focus SVT right now and goes like GOD. (About 300 WHP with turbo and increased redline). Installation is no problem, just quality parts really. Is there any website I can go look at to see Mazda's mazdaspeed parts list? Because wouldn't the regular Mazdaspeed 3's turbo fit exactly on the regular 3?

What about tein h techs? I've been looking into them, because tein are japanese, but I havent heard of anyone putting the h techs on, a few s techs and a lot of eibach's, but no h techs.
