i was looking on a sticker at the dealer today and it said it was a 2.3L with vvt.....vvt im assuming is variable valve timing, which im pretty sure the mp3 doesn thave, is the mazda 3 still a fs motor in which a vvt head could be put on a mp3?

drivetrain noob quesion: is there a way to swap motors into the bj chasis?

"how fast it goes and how good it looks depends on the size of your pocketbooks"

Anything is possible. How much is it worth to you?

the mazda 3 uses the same engine as the mazda 6. the throttle is a "Drive by wire" style, if I am not mistaken, making a swap a little more difficult.

i dont plan on doing it now i plan on doing it when my motor or tranny goes, then when the engine is more widespread and cheaper i can swap it, is it very difficult? like i hear the 1.8 -> 2.0 swap isnt AS difficult, but isnt it just de-stroked meaning i can change some internals to increase the displacement? help!!!

hi-perf, your gonna try to swap a throttle cable engine, with a throttle by wire (electric controlled). It would be QUITE a difficult swap, if possible at all.

I would suggest doing the bp swap, before doing this swap. Just because it has more displacement, does not mean its a better engine. :D

you mean a BP-T swap from an older 323/Protege? i would think that would take some serious custom work, mounts, tranny, etc.

labor and parts on internals would cost as much or more than finding a barely used 2.0 fsde and dropping it in. found mine for 600 bucks

The FS, to my understanding, is really nothing more then a stroked BP. IF this is the case, then the swap should be nothing to do. :D

new throttle body, problem solved
it wouldnt be that hard, you could probably convert it pretty easy, just butcher the **** out of the servo and tie a wire to it(thumb)

uhh no.

Have you ever SEEN an FS and a BP side by side?

Leave the 1.8 in there!

Yeah, what he said, 1.8s are actually faster than 2.0s.

Moar tork gets tha vehical muuving fastar!

to my understanding the bp-t engine was a fairly simple swap into a 3g pro. personally i just want to build my fs up and forget doing swaps.
