2017 Mazda 3 – 3rd Gen FL SkyActive-D 1.5T
Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Mazda 3 (3rd generation, 2017 facelift) and I’m hoping someone here might have some insight.
Today I noticed that when I shift into reverse, the rear view camera does not work properly. The problem shows up in two different ways:
When the screen is black:
The issue happens specifically when engaging reverse gear. Outside of that, the infotainment system seems to work normally.
I haven’t changed any settings recently and this problem just appeared today.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Possible causes I’m wondering about:
Any suggestions on what to check first, or how to diagnose this properly, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I’m experiencing an issue with my Mazda 3 (3rd generation, 2017 facelift) and I’m hoping someone here might have some insight.
Today I noticed that when I shift into reverse, the rear view camera does not work properly. The problem shows up in two different ways:
- Sometimes the camera image is very blurry or unclear, like the photo shows us
- Other times the screen goes completely black
When the screen is black:
- The parking sensors do not activate (no sound, no visual indicators)
- The camera-related menu options become greyed out and cannot be selected
The issue happens specifically when engaging reverse gear. Outside of that, the infotainment system seems to work normally.
I haven’t changed any settings recently and this problem just appeared today.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Possible causes I’m wondering about:
- Rear camera failure
- Wiring or connection issue (especially at the tailgate)
- Infotainment system (MZD Connect) software or hardware problem
- Reverse gear signal / sensor issue
Any suggestions on what to check first, or how to diagnose this properly, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
