Anyone here ever use this stuff? I always see the little demos set up in auto parts stores. Just wondering if any of you have tried it and if it works well...

edit....wrong stuff....now i forget the name of it. most auto stores have a demo with a few gears and two cranks.......one side with regular motor oil and one with the additive in it......anyone know what im talking about?

Lucas Oil Stabilizer???

Lucas Oil Stabilizer is a 100% petroleum based product formulated to compensate for wear in old engines and gear boxes and stop the wear process in new ones. Lucas Oil Stabilizer is powerful blend of petroleum extracted additives that allow motor oils and gear oils to maintain a higher degree of lubricity. It eliminates high temperature viscosity breakdown even under the most extreme conditions. It also allows the oil to last 50% longer. These qualities have made Lucas Oil Stabilizer the favorite additive for racing and trucking industries.
Oil treated with Lucas Oil Stabilizer does not run off cylinders after shut down. This condition eliminates dry starts, the number one cause of wear in an otherwise well maintained engine.
Plain motor oil is formulated with the tolerance of new engines in mind. Once an engine becomes worn the wearing process advances at a rapid rate because motor oil alone cannot fill the space between moving parts. This is particularly true in the use of synthetics. Lucas Oil Stabilizer is formulated for both new and old engines. While a small amount (15%-20%) can maintain a new engine, larger amounts (up to 60%) can be added to a worn engine to properly seal and cushion the moving parts to slow oil consumption and prevent further wear. It also stops most seal leaks.
Blends with all automotive lubricants, even synthetics, mineral oil and ATF.

you can also add MMO to your oil, too. ;) I add some mystery oil every 3 or 4 gas tanks and during oil changes. Yaw.

Yeah, I put the MMO in my crankcase and fuel tank. Makes it run a little smoother but thats just my opinion.

There's a write up on Lucas Oil at www.bobistheoilguy.com. Go there and read it. I'd highly recommend NOT USING ANYTHING BUT OIL in your engine. Some additives are just crap, and some sound good, but many that sound good will cause your oil to foam slightly, which introduces air into your oil, the ail displaces the oil and causes increased engine wear. The set-up in the store looks nice, but try spinning it at 5,000 rpms and see how it performs. Your engine may seem to run more smoothly with Lucas additive, but that is because with air bubbles in your oil more of your internals are getting coated due to the oil expanding... sounds good, right? But remember, everywhere there's a tiny air bubble, there's a spot on your engine that's getting far less protection. I would just put in a good synthetic and not worry about it.

Yeah...my impression of the MMO is that it is only meant for '85 Ford Rangers that are startin' to run a little rough whenever you take them out to the pasture. The point is only rednecks and old-school mechanic know-it-alls tell me to dump the s*** in...so I am very apprehensive to. How long have you been using it T3ASE? I really a just plain paranoid to put in any additive what-so-ever!!!

Yep, I have heard stuff from my mechanics over the years about lucas oil stabilizer and Marvel Mystery Oil. Basically they have told me that in a new car - just do what the manufacturer recommends.

I use Mobil 1 - change every 3k, usually a couple hundred miles early. Why cheap out on your car?

I did have an old car which leaked Power Steering Fluid, I picked up Lucas Anti Leak Power Steering Fluid and it worked well. However, the stuff is thick as molasses and took quite a bit of time for me to squeeze out of the bottle into the resevoir. Worked good though.
