I was thinking that or maybe not enough fluid in the case.

heres my 2c, the same problem just happened to me and i ended up having to take mine in to get rebuilt and it only cost me 1000, 1800 job around here but i had a few connections. Plus i figured wth since its getting rebuilt ill put a flywheel and new clutch in, so far everything is great ended up being my 3rd gear synchro. Check the manufacture date on the car on the inside of the door, if it was jan to apr 03 then its a common problem i know mine was and i found out the hard way

i just got mine rebuilt under warranty. they tried to convince me to a put a used one in for like $650 but i told them to rebuild mine with the updated parts (carbon synchro rings) it cost them $1700 canadian

I got this problem in my MS3. Grinding from 2nd to 3rd and is really pissing me off. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't get it to happen for them. I'm getting close to going ballistic (about the only wild card I have).

Same thing... thought it was me but it isn't since I have tried shifting really slow.
