MAM SS or HiBoost

Awesome thread, full of good info.

Having dealt with both Juan and Beau I can say that both make a quality product and you will be happy with whatever kit you get. Reasearch, look at others experiences and make your decision. As others have stated without upgrading the internals, engine management, fuel delivery, you won't be running more than 10psi if you want to stay safe and will make similar power with both kits.

Good to see our Turbo kit makers sharing their products and allowing owners to make informed decisions.

Juan tuned and installed my E6X and I can attest that with the E6X you can run high boost numbers on 91 octane out here in california. We tuned my car up to 17psi with no detonation, 440cc injectors.

Juan, now it's time for my own question. You mentioned a headgasket in your larger turbo kits. Did you get some made up or are you still using Mazda OEM gaskets?

Still using the OEM gasket. So far is working fine up to 22 psi of boost. I will do some 25 to 28 psi tests soon and I will let you know.

Yes there is alot of good info and if i ever get my suspension piffs worked out and i end up keeping the car --- i look forward to getting boosted in the near future :)

it'll be fun

Was funny. Last night JDM Sam and I did a few tuning runs on my car, and got it pullin hard. I took ELEMental59437 for a ride, and he agreed that it is pulling harder than it ever has. Then he suggested I go for a ride in his HiBoosted P5 (again). HOLY s***! It pulled twice as hard as mine still at 6-7 PSI. I was running 8 PSI last night! His A/F ratios were perfect according the the AEM Wideband. I have been wanting to make the jump to Stand Alone for a while, and think I may have found a timely, reasonably priced option. More to follow!

So far I am MORE than impressed with my HiBoost kit. It has had no problems since installing it a few months ago, and the car started right up the first time. No looking around for issues or anything. This is the first turbo kit I have installed, and following Juans instructions and advise I was able to install it in a few half days. Prior to owning this car I had only changed a fuel pump - nothing else mechanical. This car and everything I have done to it was for the first time. Props to Juan for making a clean kit, and a kick ass base map.

Sweet!! I am going to start saving. One question though, what would be ther price if I already have your FMIC?

i believe he means the stock Hiboost kit turbo, the IHI ball bearing

One thing I can also say is that I have been a witness to the installation of both kits, and can say without a doubt that you will NOT get screwed with either kit. The MAM kit is a solidly engineered system with the ease of installation in mind. So is the HiBoost kit. You will not go wrong either way. Your personal experience with customer service may have to be your deciding factor. Have you had a chance to interact with either parties? I've met Juan, and he seems like a very decent guy. I've talked to Beau on the phone, and he always gives it to me straight, and does not BS at all! Both are knowledgeable about their systems, and are willing to help. So pick up the phone, and talk to them if you can.

how much can i get a haltech e6x for with everything i need juan? if my b**** wife signs this damn divorce paperwork i wont have to spend another 1k on getting her into court, and i can buy a standalone and try to solve my probs that way.

Matt,

Last I heard Juan sells the E6X with sensors for $1250.For the price and what it does you can't go wrong for $1250.

is that the price now? man what a bonafide steal

How much does the AEM sell for. I guess whatever it is it doesn't include sensors and isn't pre-tuned though.

<flame suit on> You should get the WOMP ;)

price has not been set for Beau's AEM and to clarify, nothing is ever fully "pre-tuned". Adjustments will always be required. If the AEM comes to fruition I have a good feeling it will be the end-all be-all. If thats not a vote of confidence in MAM's favor I dont know what is :)
