Making the cup holder more user friendly

Okay this was a little something I did after a couple of times of having my cup fly out as I was making a turn. I just took one of those cheap beer cushie things (made of foam) and cut it down to become level with the top of the cup holder. I believe nearly every one you look at is going to have lettering on it. Those silly sayings and what not. I don't think they come blank.
So anyway I found one that was black. I then stuck sticky velcro on the bottom of the cushie and velcro on the bottom of the cupholder. It sits in there pretty snug and whatever cup I put in it doesn't move when I don't want it to. Not every cup is going to fit mind you but it's good for fast food and some bottles. I'd add a pic but it's pretty self-explanatory as to what it looks like.

You must take really fast turns. I've never had a cup or bottle fly out. Good idea though.

I ran an autocross with a water bottle in my cupholder, you must drive like a maniac on the street. I may try this though, as the regular watter bottles fit really loose and tap against the radio surround when you stop.

My parents use them at the beach (primarily to hide the fact that they are drinking beer when the beach states "no alcohal"). Anyway, they call them "coozies" but I don't think that is an official term.

No maniac driving. It's only happened a couple of times so I was like I'll fix that s*** so it won't happen again. I only need one cup holder. The other one has the hula girl that came with my seat covers.

The cupholders in the 02 aren't the greatest - if you take a corner at the least little bit of speed, what ever is in there (cup, bottle, mug, etc) will come flying out since they're so shallow, about 1.5" deep at most.

Rogue, let me know if you'd like the rear-seat cupholder, I can get it for you...

i can attest to that...too many trips to taco bell have ended in frustration (mind you, not because they screwed up my order...again...).

hey...cool...my 100th post!! w00t!!

That is a good idea. I, too, hate that irritating sound my water bottle makes against the radio.

Tell me about it! I had a full cup of coffee go flying into the passenger seat floor area... car reeked like Starbucks for a week until I could shampoo the carpeting! Fortunately I got it all cleaned up and it smells like a new car again!
Now when I use the cup holder (rarely), I keep one hand on the top of the cup!

how much was it? where'd you get it from? learn to resize, woman ;)
I got it on a GB from this guy Herbie that lives in Canada.. I think it was like $30 or 40?

I've had several beverages fly out of my '02 cupholder, one actually came open and cherry cola'd my pass side floor. I think I'll try this out - thx for the tip!

Ahem, and I'd like to point out that the model in Lisa's pic is moi wearing a vintage 5 year old faded grey hoodie from the Woolworth. Not that it's all that good looking but still, that was me. :p
