Major comfort issues with CX-70 Driver's Seat

In August 25 we purchased a CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus, a $60K vehicle. The car is fine, except: The driver's seat will not fit me. After two recent 500 mile/+ round trips, I don't think I can use this vehicle for more than 1 hour without lumbar and thoracic back pain, and neck/shoulder pain. Since new I have tried to adjust the seat, using many on line guides, all without relieving the issues with more than a 1 hour ride. I stopped at the dealer and spoke with the salesman who confirmed that others had expressed concerns similiar. He walked me through the adjustment process again, and after completing a 500 mile trip, I give up. I am ready to get rid of this car.

Anyone have similar experiences and have found a solution. A chiropractor, body shop, upholstery shop for help? We paid extra for vented/heated seats so using a cushion seems like a waste of of those features. I have driven 100??cars and never had this issue. Salesman tells me it is a Japanese design attribute of the car.

I've had mine since June, CX-70 PHEV GT (top range in Canada). I've found the seats very supportive over long distances, the heated and ventilation works amazing. I'm 5'11" weigh 187 lbs, the seats adjust well for my size. My wife who is much shorter, and a retired RN.....every nurse has back issues, she likes the heated and ventilation. She actually finds the seats more comfortable than her M2 series BMW.

The seats are firm when compared to anything built in North America, it's common with many Japanese, and most German vehicles. I can easily dive the BMW 1,200 km without issue due to the firmness of the seats.

I could not agree more. I have tried everything to get comfortable in the drivers seat, but with no success.

Both my knees hit the door handle and centre console. When I try to raise the seat up, it moves forward.

I have tried many different things. I have even considered physically modifying the car, but don't want to go to that trouble and not have success.

Seriously considering selling the car.

It's strange to me because I'm only 5,11.

Looking for a solution as well.

thanks for posting.

You would have to speak to an upholstery shop or potentially try an aftermarket seat.

I'm 6'3. "Fitting" into the seat has been a nightmare. The bolsters around your but are too narrow, so I literally sit over them. It caused me significant glute pain and discomfort even on relatively short rides. Same with the bolstering around the shoulder area. It pressed into the backs of my shoulders. I resorted to physically cutting out and "shaping" those areas with a knife, as my car is already high mileage and aging. I obviously don't suggest doing that to your new car, but I would certainly consult with some local upholsterers and see what they say. Also, your new seat will take some time to soften up.

Now, I actually sort of fit without significant discomfort into my seat, and can comfortably drive longer distances with fewer breaks. I even notice less comfort while sitting elsewhere, such as on my couch at home.

This isn't specific to Mazda or even Japanese vehicles. I recently sat in a Chevy Equinox and noticed the same problems. However, Mazda's seat is more aggressively bolstered, which made the problem worse. For someone who is narrower in proportion and shorter, I could see this being a very comfortable and supportive seat.
